FWIW, here is my take on the current ownership. The one major mistake that we made in our history was selling Eastville. Maybe it saved the club at the time, but that meant life has been a constant struggle for BRFC. It's why we have always been ragbag. Currently, there appears to be stuff happenning - development squad, backroom staff, bought a field, small Mem improvements, sprinklers (lol) etc. However, it is all being financed by a loan secured against our only asset. In other words - we seem to be risking our ground to make these improvements. Those of us that were watching rovers in the eighties - when we were forced to leave our true home at Eastville - feel naturally agitated by this. It was a long road back to eventually owning our own ground, and here we are risking it again. When our borrowing exceeds the value of the Mem what will happen? Will history repeat itself and we will be forced to sell again? That depends if the Al-Qadi's put their hand in their pockets. We had hoped that the Al-Qadi family would invest their own money. That's how we've seen other clubs grow. It does not appear that is happening though. What it appears we are trying to do is raise capital against what we have. Then invest that capital in order to grow. For projects like the training ground and the regeneration - outside investement will probably be sought. People outside the club will get a generous slice of those pies. Will this plan work? I don't know. Will it take a long time? Longer than many of us have. This is how Manchester United are funded

My take is that it is correct that we owed monies on the fence etc. It's also my opinion that the family want out (not Wael) and that this will hopefully happen quickly, before we lose the UWE option forever. Once the UWE has gone, none of us around now will ever see us play in a decent stadium of our own. The training ground and the Mem redevelopment are paid in the sky. I don't doubt we owed " money on the fence" at one time, that's surely obvious, we have all owed money at sometime until we have received an invoice etc to pay for a job done. The big question is whether we owe for it at the present time.

Too many people on here need to wake up and see what's happening right under our noses.

That's some strong accusations to make, can you back that up as I've not seen that suggested anywhere else on the forums? And it’s correct! Like Faggoty said above. This is an easy one to prove: Where is it being listed? Bristol County Court presumably? If a letter before action has been sent we should see the listing within what? 28 days? 21 for a response and 7 for the application? Let's be generous and say 21 for the application. So in 8 weeks we can drop this sh1t. Yeah?

I am not disputing that a fence may/or may not have been paid for
I will ask again though for those that seem to be ITK. What is the actual reason for it not being paid? I don't see the current owners of BRFC deliberately not paying for something they presumably asked for. so there must be a dispute with the work somewhere surely
But of course people just shout UNPAID BILLS, which insinuates (and scaremongers) that we aren't paying anything full stop which clearly isn't the case

Even if we don't have any money that still doesn't mean the deal with UWE is a good one for the football club.

The debt under Higgs was owed to other directors, with only the mortgage monies owed to the bank. Then he took out the Wonga loan.
Under Our new owners, the money is owed to the alQadis. The difference? We are still a heartbeat away from bankruptcy. As I have said before, 'mushrooms' comes to mind. The biggest difference is that we are accumulating debt at a far faster rate than we have ever done before. But the Mem is worth about £18 million to a developer. Whilst we owe the present £12-13m we will carry on.
The truth is we need to get a new stadium that will generate the income we need to survive. The reality is that all us fans know that the Mem cannot do that, but many choose to pretend it will happen. Even our new owners used to say we had to leave the Mem as it was not viable, yet many of you out there choose to wear blinkers.
Just think about it. We know that other retail outlets were needed at the UWE to pay for the development. So why aren't they needed at the Mem? They are if the cost of redevelopment is to be repaid. But there has been no mention of it. Why? Because the site is not big enough to to hold them even if we could get permission to build them. Wake up and smell the coffee.
And for god sake stop saying what Wael has or hasn't said or done. Wael is true to his word about the club, but has no financial clout. Hani and Co have decided we are a bad risk and want out. Wael will have no say in it.
Our best hope is that someone (🤐) will buy us, build the UWE and redevelop the Mem.

But the club know about this but still done nothing. They owe the money alright (unless it was repaid this week) Its a gashead who is owed the money, and he is known to some of us. The quality of the fence is poor, but that was because the club didn't want anything better. It was accepted that as the hedge along the main access road grew, it would absorb the fence. The fence was to stop unwelcome guests in the meantime.

I can't be bothered Henbury as it only gets ridiculed and poured scorn over , why bother wasting any more of my time expressing my concerns regarding Bristol Rovers the club I love when I get labeled a liar etc?

I can fully understand your concerns and i have many concerns myself, but until i get some real proof that the club is going down hill i will be my normal optimistic self re the future I see the club are looking for some more coaching staff as well....

Henbury. By the time it gets out in the open, we will face a closure order. This is why so many businesses go under and shareholders are left high and dry. The difference here is that the shareholders are protected by the value of the only asset.
In our case, those left high and dry will be us the fans. I still find it hard to believe how easily the fans have accepted the loss of the UWE project. Not even a whimper. Talk about deserving what we get. There has been as much discussion on here about pasties and pies as the loss of the UWE. Pathetic.

Wasn't The Mem redevelopment to be paid for by enabling development. Flats/Hotels etc, because no one else was paying for it.
And that got planning permission
So it is possible

Your little digs at me are pretty sad really. I have obviously upset you in some way. I don't know where did you get that idea from that I apparently seem to know why the UWE deal floundered? Was that statement by you regarding myself really needed in your comment? No. Just a little dig from yourself. I wasn't present at the meetings between the 2 parties. I don't know Wael. I don't know anyone who would know what really happened. I don't have a source that some on here claim to have. I haven't made out that I do know anything as a fact. What I have made clear is that I can only go by club statements and in this case UWE's statement too. I have only said on this thread as well as the other thread what was actually said by both the club statement and from UWE. Its then down to individuals if you believe the club or not. As for your comment and dig at me mentioning the match day experience being improved, you know full well what I meant. Several facilities have been upgraded at the Mem to help improve your match day experience. If you not used the facilities then fine. But if you compare what was at the Mem before Higgs left and what is there now, if you think there hasn't been improvements then you are deluded. Then moving on to your next dig at me continually mentioning Wael, you do realise the thread is about Wael. What else would I be talking about? And regarding what he is doing is in response to those on here claiming Wael has done nothing since he joined and claimed he has no funds when clearly what he has done in the background proves otherwise. What your comment shows is a lack of class and respect. Going for someone trying to belittle them just make you a keyboard warrior and that fact you are 60+ makes it a bit embarrassing for you. You have just taken my comments, twisted them for your own agenda while knowing full well what I have previously meant. There is no reasoning with people like yourself. You do have to wonder if these people have Red blood in their veins and not blue and white Was there anything in my original posting that prompted what you've posted - or is it just one of your typical cheap shots?

I learnt a long time ago not to worry about something that may never happen.... that's a quick way to get yourself into a wooden box Re UWE, not sure any thoughts or comments would have had any influence on the the UWE not wanting to proceed with the revised offer from the family

Believe me I'm worried about the charge against the Mem and I'm worried that the Mem was touted as unsustainable but now suddenly is OK for us to stay and re-develop. However I'm not going to get all hysterical until I see what happens with the training ground and Mem plans. As far as I can tell (albeit with poor communication from the club) is: - The training ground is going through the planning stage - The community is being consulted about the Mem plans and that they are (so far) largely happy Why would the ALQs go through this and all the backroom appointments if they are looking to get out?
