Did we learn nothing from not owning our own stadium for 50 years? I think the point is that Ed/ Uwe would build it then swap it for the mem. The claim is that we would on it.

Some bloke on facebook claims Ed Ware is trying to get us to swap the mem for uwe “Your all wrong and ed is a great guy who loves the club What ed has put forward is true in parts but it would be a turnkey stadium in exchange for the mem and student accommodation at UWE the stadium would belong to current owners Not ed or the Chinese hope this clears things up” States Ed is on holiday and will mention it on his return A turnkey or a turnkey project (also spelled turn-key) is a type of project that is constructed so that it can be sold to any buyer as a completed product. This is contrasted with build to order, where the constructor builds an item to the buyer's exact specifications, or when an incomplete product is sold with the assumption that the buyer would complete it. An advantage of the Turnkey Projects is that it is a way of obtaining a substantial economic profit from an asset. Ben A classic example of turnkey projects would be PFI hospitals and schools; cost the user a fortune to run and any budget is swallowed by the contract you are tied up in. We need our own land and ownership of the resulting stadia, it's a big no from me

The common theme with a lot of these rumours is Ed. Seems like old board members trying to stir up sh**.

I think he is saying ir is a proposal they want to put to the club Ben I would like to think any sensible, costed and affordable plan would be scutineered by the owners and a pragmatic decision being the outcome of said discussion. What is going on with the attempts by un-named individuals and/or groups to destabilise the club is beyond my comprehension. It isn't the mark of any true Rovers fan in my opinion; which as you know can be cynical. UTG

Steve Hamer’s email points towards a club employee and an ex director if you ask me....

If you want to get on in Bristol, I understand that you don't make enemies with the "Society of Merchant Venturers". Don't worry though as I doubt very much there could be any connection between them, Eddie Ware and UWE. Thats more of a Ted thing isn't it?

West (UWE) are both members of the Merchant Venturers. Chris Booy of the rugby franchise is also a governor of UWE and John Laycock is a shareholder in the Sh*t and rugby franchise and a governor at UWE. All are Merchant Venturers. The connections are all there and possibly some I don't know. But the contacts are there for something to happen with that land at UWE.

If there's any truth in this I don't get how EW can build a stadium, I assume to the present pp so costing £30/40m?, and then hand it over in exchange for the Mem site which must only have a value of £15/20m tops? Plus what do the UWE get out of the deal in the long term, similar terms to those ALQ's have already dismissed as not being viable?

Its on the passionate gasheads site, the guy is a mate of Eds.
The rumour as reported - So UWE build the stadium with accomodation attached to it and we get the stadium in return for The mem which will have houses built on it. Ed will be building the houses.
