He is technically a good player and I do agree that he would improve if we try and play on the ground more and with more pace.
However you can't say he has played sporadically, he has had numerous opportunities considering his lack of goals. And if Peterborough didn't want to sell him then they wouldn't of... Didn't we do that v Pompey? James & Nichols seem v. similar players and the fact FGR have told James to find a new club suggests it can't be just the way we play makes them look poor. What's a worry is DC felt both James & Nichols were decent strikers! We did indeed and that is one of the better games I have seen Nichols have, albeit he still needs to do more.

Brilliant use of sarcasm- really had me going there for a minute... You were probably the same person mocking Taylor in his early days, and mocking lambert in his early days.. people like you are what’s wrong with football fans. I never knocked Taylor or Lambert. Right from the start, I could see that they had talent. Ditto Ellis. But Nichols? As of yet, I`ve seen nothing.

I liked LJ, and wouldn't be against him returning if the wages were right.
I know most on here will think I'm mad, but he's scored goals before, and I think he will again. Plus his workrate was un-questionable.
Also, we've not done badly taking an underperforming striker from FGR in the past - just saying.

I’m glad he’s coming back, after Billy’s departure we need a good penalty taker.

Did he actually do anything of note though, as I can't recall him having any shots on goal or making any defence splitting passes.

James is better than Nichols. Red sauce is better than brown sauce.

Former Bristol Rovers forward Luke James had been told he can find a new club after only leaving Darrell Clarke’s side in the summer. James was signed to fill the void left by Matty Taylor at Rovers last season but despite some hard-working performances failed to score in 30 appearances. After turning to parent club Peterborough he then linked up League Two strugglers Forest Green, who sit bottom of the division after 25 games. The 23-year-old has netted just once in 21 games for Mark Cooper’s side and has been told that he's free to leave the New Lawn this month, according to Gloucestershire Live. James showed some glimpses of brilliance while at the Memorial Stadium but his lack of scoring was a huge talking point among fans throughout the campaign. He notched up four assists to help Rovers clinch tenth place in League One but the Gas chose not to make his signing permanent. Meanwhile, Green teammate Sam Russell has also been told he find a new side, while Cardiff are reportedly lining up a £1million bid for prolific striker Christian Doidge, as revealed by Glos Live. Imagine that, Tom Nichols and Luke James leading the Rovers front line? My god they would scare the sh** out of all league 1 defences! I suppose we could drop coco the clown in the hole behind them too?

James is better than Nichols. That's probably true but play them both over 45 games and Nichols will get more goals which is the most important thing for a striker.

I didn’t think he scored that many goals in the past so had a quick check...2 Goals in 98 games. But fear not, this is only a wind up thread started to see how many pages it gets.

I don’t know how people can mock Nicholls, mostly people who know nothing about football I guess. He has been played sparadically and when he played is normally out wide.. players like him play best when a team actually has wingers, not just going through the middle all game every game. Get at least one player in the squad with a bit of pace and he will flourish. There is a reason Peterborough didn’t want to sell him. You can see he has bags of ability. Brilliant use of sarcasm- really had me going there for a minute... You and sarcasm go hand in hand i hear
