I’d be happy if we can just keep Improving season on season like we have been. Even if it was just one league position each season and it took 8-9 years to make the championship I reckon by then we’ll either have a fully regenerated Mem or a New build and we’d be ready. I think it’ll happen but I do think it’s going to take time. WAQ only finished sorting out Higgs mess 6 months ago he needs time and patience from the supporters. DC won’t hang around that long and Higgs kept us alive believe it or not unless we make the top 6 next season I can’t see dc leaving,3 years holding your own in l1 wont attract a championship club I think he will see out his contract and if we haven’t been promoted maybe it will be best for a fresh start for club and dc

All my life. To run in parallel with how long my wait will be for a new Gas stadium. Well over half way with this now.

I'm happy to stay here. Got to be honest I'm happy to have a club to support after the conference season.
I might be in the minority but I don't want Prem football. Maybe the odd foray into the Championship for the odd derby game and I'm satisfied.
Call me unambitious but I'm happy with what we have.

People talk about losing the Rovers spirit with new owners just wait until there isn't a single local player in the squad and our fixtures are on a Monday night one week and Sunday lunchtime the next.

I've really no wish to become a Premiership club but I bloody hope before I die I will see my team in the second division again. Hopefully in a new ground as well.

20 seasons at championship level. 59 seasons at league one level. 10 seasons at league two level. 1 season at conference level.
History would suggest a long time in league one should be expected. History also points to the modern age and the change in league has been a downward one !
Don't be too hasty in wanting a divisional change .

Of those 59yrs how many had playoffs though, we would have been fighting for a top six finish on many occasions and who knows once your in them you could win them, so that 59yrs could've been a lot less.

We need to make next season our last we are getting left behind By Who ? Yeah he probably means the sh**. Truth is we’ve been behind them in terms of infrastructure certainly in all my years supporting us and other than a few occasions in the league table too. f**k them, I don’t want our club to succeed because of them I just want our club to succeed. And we are on the right track.

I love this thread. Makes it sound like we are some massive club who should be in the prem or something! No offence but I'd love to know where you were 3/4 years ago when we were in the conference? I was on here saying we'd get four promotions in a row then win the Champions League whilst still at the Mem.

Is that directed at me or other posters? I’ve been watching the gas through thick and thin since 1988...how about you?

How many seasons would you be happy with in league one? A decade? 2 more years then championship? How long do you really think with our infrastructure would be needed in league one? I'm more than happy at present to be in L1. How many seasons does not matter as long as we are progressing and building infrastructure along the way. Its hard to gauge with the current ownership what the mid to long term goals are as they say little and not very often. Being positive I would suggest a five year plan to get into the championship under current ownership, we are two years in with a promotion already. Setbacks with UWE will have put things back so for me its another 3 to 5 years in L1. I'm sure DC's 5 year contract aligns with this. We will only be championship ready with a new ground, new training ground, decent commercial revenue, functioning academy/development squad, improved scouting network and fully functional club management structure.
*For me 5 more years in L1 then championship if things keep progressing
*subject to change

I know where your coming from but i would just for once in our history love to see us playing man utd,man city, arsenal, chelsea, spurs and liverpool in league fixtures. Im also desperate for us to establish ourselves in the championship which is such a strong division with big crowds and big clubs. After the bloody conference and endless league 2 struggles league one is a relief but rochdale, walsall, gillingham etc hardly fills me with joy. We need to get into the championship imo.

Were in a division where 4 teams get relegated. In my view if you dont go up then sooner or later you go down. From 5th to 24th there is nothing much to choose between the teams this season.

Sorry boss but it's 19 seasons at Championship level : 9 in 50s/60s, 7 in 70s and 3 in 90s.

The problem is that DC will not be prepared to just 'hang around' in Div 1. He has openly stated this.
