How many seasons would you be happy with in league one?
A decade?
2 more years then championship?
How long do you really think with our infrastructure would be needed in league one?

I'd rather be where we are now, a mid-table team, than going up and getting stuffed every week. Until we get a new ground, or rebuild the Mem, I'm more than happy where we are.

Did DC say last year there was a 3 year plan for the Championship? I would be very happy with being in & around playoffs next season & pushing for automatic season after. Happy to see year on year improvement

Some fans are just happy we exist.
Until we sort our ground out we might as Well tread water.
Really love to see the stadium situation sorted, at least everyone can make their own mind up.
If Wael announce that they intend to add a few seats here and there and paint some walls, then that really not bringing the club into the modern world, then don't see us being any more of a draw for attracting players than we are. League 1 will still be our level.
Complete rebuild of the mem or new location then I think we become a much different prospect and would be far more exciting. Challenging for play offs in league 1 and climbing into the championship in a few years once delivered.
In short, until new stadium, league 1 is where we belong.

I’d be happy if we can just keep Improving season on season like we have been. Even if it was just one league position each season and it took 8-9 years to make the championship I reckon by then we’ll either have a fully regenerated Mem or a New build and we’d be ready. I think it’ll happen but I do think it’s going to take time. WAQ only finished sorting out Higgs mess 6 months ago he needs time and patience from the supporters.

If it's true we've a bottom 8 budget then I can't see us really challenging for a top 6 spot any time soon, the real danger is DC will get a better offer next season and move on, then we will probably go back to struggling to stay in Div 1. Wael really needs to come up with a plan for a new stadium asap in order give us all something to cling our hopes on to & also keep DC at the club.

Didn't Hamer confirm that we had the 15th biggest budget in the league. That's a bottom 9 or top 15 budget whichever way you want to look at it so about mid table. Having a massive budget isn't the be all and end all, as evidenced by Shrewsbury and Scunthorpe. I doubt Plymouth have a massive budget either. I'd be happy to "tread water" in this division for a few more years as long as there are improvements being made off the pitch. We seem to be making a step in the right direction by appointing surveyors and getting a CEO in though ideally I'd like us to start looking at planning applications and preliminary timescales for both the mem and the colony fairly soon although I'm prepared to wait so both projects can be delivered in the best manner possible.

With our current infrastructure, we'd probably be better off staying in L1 forever, pushing close to promotion every other year just to keep the crowds up.
Plenty of other clubs do that. We have done that for most of our history.

Don't think we'd be allowed in the Championship with the Mem.Falls short in almost every respect.Toured Derby's ground recently and they were explaining how they had put in State of the Art disabled facilities,Female officials changing facilities, etc. Think we are currently in the worst 3 category but with Accrington and Macclesfield likely to be in Div one and two respectively next season we will then be worst five!!!!Not sure what Sunderland will think next season when they see the tents but when WBA were relegated at Twerton, the ceiling in the visitors changing room collapsed.Things must change for us to survive but don't think I'll see it.

Depends if the getting out of L1 involves promotion or relegation.

I love this thread. Makes it sound like we are some massive club who should be in the prem or something!
No offence but I'd love to know where you were 3/4 years ago when we were in the conference?

As long as it takes is the simple answer. Rovers have spent most of their existence in the third tier and the last time we were a force in the championship or second tier was before most of our times. I want us to be ready and capable of sustaining championship football and eventually challenging at or near the top.

Can’t put a time on it can you? If we have a really good team and find ourselves in a promotion place you have to go for it even with a crap ground and infrastructure behind others. You can never turn it down. On the other hand we might hang around in this league for 7/8 years but so long as we have a team that’s trying and a club that you can see is growing, however slowly, then I’d be happy. Of course I’d like to go up but it’s not a formula of throwing money at it, there are plenty of clubs who’ve done that and are even worse off now. We were in League 1, div 3 equivalent, from 61 to 74, 13 seasons and from watching them in the majority of seasons it was good football, good teams, some exciting promotion battles, near misses and a final promotion with players the manager had carefully built over a couple of years. It was a good period with some lows, the Edmond Million affair and just missing relegation that year, 63 I think. I hope we go up soon but year on year improvement, even small, will be ok for me! COYB! UTG!
