Hi boys and girls,
Yours truly here again with another Match Thread.
Looking forward to seeing some of our youngsters/fringe players given a chance. Our injuries could actually be a blessing in disguise if it means we can mature some youth.
Hoping Magennis doesn't play for Charlton as fear he could have a field day against Locks and Craig.
I'm going to go for a 1-2 defeat.

With all our injury problems I can't see us winning today unfortunately.
Charlton are also in good form, winning 2-0 vs Plymouth, 4-0 vs Northampton and 3-1 vs Rotherham.
I'm looking forward to seeing how we cope against the likes of Zyro, Aribo and Forster-Caskey - players I rate.
With players like Kaikai, Magennis, Mavididi and Marshall on their bench in the last game, it shows what a quality squad they have and the type of budgets we are competing against.

Charlton are massively above us in terms of budget. They should be disappointed if they don't go up with their budget and wages on players.

I didn't even mention the likes of Mouhamadou-Naby Sarr, a 24-year-old former French U21 who has played 1st team games for Lyon and Sporting Lisbon. Edit: Johnnie Jackson, Billy Clarke and Chris Solly weren't even in their last squad. I also forgot to mention Ezri Konsa, an England U20 international who has been linked with Prem clubs.

Looking forward to this one, two good teams so it should be a decent game. I feel like we owe them one for the last couple of seasons and as we have got the home advantage and hopefully a couple of key players to return from injuries, I reckon we can sneak a win but admittedly it will be tough. Hard to predict the lineup due to the amount of injuries we have and the uncertainty over who will have recovered in time for today.
My line up:
Slocombe (GK) Brown (LB) Lockyer (CB) Craig (CB) Leadbitter (RB) Bennett (LW) Sercombe (CM) O Clarke (CM) Moore (RW) Harrison (ST) Telford (ST)
I have included leadbitter and sercombe as they are rumoured to be back for today's game but if not then Lockyer will have to go RB with Broadbent at CB and Russe would have to play in Sercs position which could leave us with no CM's on the bench. Gone for Moore over Mensah because after seeing both in recent weeks, Moore just has that little bit more composure and experience which could come in handy against a team like Charlton. Telford up front for me as the lad deserves an opportunity to impress the mem and Gaffney has been a little off the boil recently.
2-1 win UTG COYB

No matter what the situation is, we always seem to get a beating off them. First game of the season, they had a player sent off after 4 mins, and still beat us!!!!!!!

To be blunt it's always boys v men when we play 'big' or a top table teams, so not expecting much. Still looking forward to the match tho.

Really wanted us to sign Marshall when he left Bradford. Was there ever any chance of this happening back then? I can't remember whether we were linked or not but he was quality against us last year and seems wasted on the bench now.

I don't think there was much chance, Charlton were linked early and was always his likely destination.

They've given us a couple of hidings lately and our last win against them was back in 2010 with goals from Steve Elliot and Heffernan. Istr Lines should have been sent off in that game which was live on Sky.

I think the pitch at the Mem could be a real leveller today, Chalton have a lot of players who are comfortable on the ball, as we all know its so difficult to play football on our pitch, So thats why im going for a draw, UTG

We will struggle today in midfield unless Sercombe returns. One things for sure we will struggle to create anything, without either him or Lines on the pitch. Hoping for a win but will be very surprised if we even manage a point.
