Another awful performance from Gaffney unfortunately. Thankful for his services but time to move him on in Summer. Begrudgingly I agree with you. I used to love Gaffney, he'd run & run for 90 mins, and score a few goals. But now his goals have dried up completely, and when he runs to chase the ball down, he just doesn't seem the player he once was. Let him go in the summer, and see who DC brings in. Funny how people see things differently, but I and the people around me agreed that he completely changed the game when he came on. He held the ball up really well and played some great lay offs. He’s quite strong and gave the defence something to think about. Lumping the ball up to Ellis (or Kyle? ) as we done up to that point gave no option for the knock on or play down. I could name some errors that Gaffmey made (Three) but I’m not going to. I prefer to see his positives which contributed far more to the game than his errors had a negative impact.

Seems to be lacking confidence at the b moment Gaffney. He did OK but his end product was poor.

When lumped forward our only real prospect was Ellis to score, but as the receiver of the ball Ellis couldn’t do it all, it just seemed to open up our sight on goal much better than it had for the first 60 minutes.

I enjoyed the game and we did much better than I was expecting, fair play to DC and the lads.
Charlton had some talented players out there today, but so did we and I thought we held our own for large parts of the game. We started well, but lost a bit of momentum after Sercs went off and Locks moved into midfield, but that was to be expected.
Bennett played well again, looked lively every time he got the ball, tried to makes things happen and got a goal - deservedly MOTM.
Broadbent came on and had a good game and looked to bring the ball out of defence on a couple of occasions as we know he can. He's taken to this level of football well and hopefully will continue improving with the more experience he gets.
I thought Mensah had a quiet game and Clarke was given a tough time at RB, with most of Charlton's attacking impetus coming down their left hand side, but Kaikai is a good player who has played a few games in the Prem and has Championship experience.
Gaffney tried hard after coming on as a sub, but was disappointing again for me and didn't really make much impact. He looks like he's lacking a bit of confidence at the moment.
One other bright point for me was the performance of Michael Kelly. He came on and didn't look out of place at all at LB, made a few good overlapping runs and put in a couple of decent crosses. A promising display, but not a huge surprise to me having seen him perform well in the development squad.
Overall a good point and a decent display considering the injury situation. Well done DC and the lads!

Was a good game. Charlton looked like a good team and those around me said they are one of the better footballing sides to play at the mem this season. They wanted to play the ball from the back every time and their keeper was always looking for the quick short ball.
We did well. I think all three of our subs were because of injury which doesn’t help the injury list! Some of the players were blowing towards the end so I feared a Charlton winner. Probably the first ninety minutes Byron Moore must have played in like three years!
My first game for a long time today and was good to be back and got to see an entertaining game.

Enjoyed the game shame Sercs went off as he was playing well. Liked the look of Micheal Kelly, think DC has to be ruthless this summer, our budget can’t include non scoring forwards. Bola and Telford I would try and keep. Sweens hasn’t been the same player this year, and if we had a decent offer for Locks I would take it. Think Broadbent might make a good defensive midfielder as he is excellent at bringing the ball out. We have the nucleus of a good team just need some quality additions, if we get players of the quality of Bennet, Sercs, Craig we will do well next season.

Must give some credit to Slocombe who I thought was excellent today. If not for Bennett I would have made him MOTM as he really kept us in the game with some superb saves, twice he lept like a salmon to palm the ball away from the top corner of the net.
So glad DC made the decision to give him another run. Don't get me wrong I think Smith's ok but Slocs is much better, his kicking and distribution is good and he often keeps the game moving giving us the advantage of being able to make a counter attack by quickly passing the ball out from the back. He's a good shot stopper too.

I was a bit worried when he was sparked out on the deck after that mad goal mouth scramble moment in the second half. I think he clashed with Ellis? Made me wonder who the hell DC would have put in goal if he had been stretchered off! Lol

I think either Broadbent or Gaffney would have gone in goal if it came to it, fortunately they didn't have to!

It takes all the pressure off.

On a different note, would it have hurt to have acknowledged Ray Wilkins today? I know he wasn't our player, but was an ex England captain and respected throughout the game. Not suggesting a minute's silence or the awful minute's applause we seem to go in for these days, but surprised Nick didn't mention it (at least, I didn't hear it, but then with our sound system...)
