I just don't think the politicians understand that safe standing is safer than what we have currently. It can be dangerous in all seater stadiums when thousands stand up in areas not designed for it, Safe standing has been implemented successfully at Celtic and many German clubs.
I hope they see some sense and allow such an arrangement in English football but I'm not optimistic.

Agree with all,of that, but sadly I just can’t see it happening, and should we ever get near building a new stadium it would just be a waste of time and money pursuing any sort of plan to adopt any safe standing.

I'd be tempted if the Championship was allowed SS but if not then it would be a waste of money agreed. It really frustrates me that this keeps being blocked because English football is so much better with Terraces. I understand that some don't want a repeat of hooliganism and Hillsborough/Ibrox but having seen safe standing for myself in Germany, I'd actually argue that it is much more safer than what we have got now.

What evidence is there to prove that safe standing is safer than stadiums with normal seating? I think it's fair to say that since the policy of all seater stadia was introduced there have been no incidents of significant seriousness in these stadiums. Of course I am not saying that there has not been the odd case of individuals falling and injuring themselves in seated stadia, but there certainly has not been any cases in this country that has involved several people falling as far as I am aware.

A very rare occurrence that something goes wrong on a terrace.

People stand up if there are seats or not, be they singing or celebrating, safe standing is safer than just seats imo.

West Brom have mentioned having the decision reviewed. I can see a case for judicial review. If it can be shown that the Government have ignored evidence that safe standing is safer than the current situation, then the Government may be breaching EU human rights legislation.
Hopefully not over yet...

With "safe standing" I suspect the temptation of those who like to stand together would over populate a segment and leave space elsewhere; perhaps that doesn't happen elsewhere? Who sits down at the likes of Pompey?

It annoys me when the government use hillsborough as an excuse for enforcing safe standing, I thought the inquest found that standing was only a contributory factor in the disaster. The high fencing which remained locked for too long and overcrowding were the main problems. After seeing the standing at Celtic I've become a bit of an advocate as what they have is great.

I went to watch Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday. The crowd was 50500. The home fans singing section is standing, and so is the away section. Believe me, if it wasn't safe there is no way the German authorities would allow it. All German stadiums have standing sections.

Seats were dangerous when we scored that last gasp equaliser at Cheltenham away a few tears ago.
Hitchcock jumped in the crowd (!) and some poor fella fell off the seat he was standing on!
So while we're at it, lets have safe hokey kokeys too!?

Even just anecdotally, we've all hurt ourselves celebrating goals or been crashed into by others falling over the backs of the seat in front. What kind of evidence would you like?

Don't laugh, but Harry Sullivan, the bloke who invented the Hokey Kokey, died a couple of years ago, and there was pandemonium at his funeral when they went to put his body in the coffin. They put the left leg in................................

Standing with rails every step is safer than having a seat in front of you at knee height to fall over its common sense. The FA and the government however have no common sense.
