BBC now saying the fee is £4m with add-ons. We'll be lucky to get half-a-mil. £4 million?! Why would they sell their top striker for £4m? And add ons, he's played for England and it's not like he'll go for £20m in his career. Isn't he 31?

In this instance I expect add-ons mean cash for Saints if L'Pool Win the League / Finish Top 4 / Reach CL knock-out stages etc.

It was indeed a 20%sell on. Rochdale had a 25% sell on with us! but I don't believe they get any of this coz our sell on is completely separate to theirs. I believe they were only entitled to 25% of anything we got from Southampton. We received £1.25 m in total. So if he goes for £9m to Liverpool I believe we get £1.55m and keep the lot.
It also depends on how the fee is structured. I'm hearing £4m up front with huge add ons based on performances etc.
Hope we've rung Halifax. That would be good news we could all do with.

Fully deserved and what an achievement for him. But believe LFC are working this out in some way as a joint deal for Lallana, which will screw over Bournemouths sell on for him. We'll see. The money is awesome.

Rickie Lambert’s sister Melanie tweets joy over Liverpool-supporting brother’s move to AnfieldThursday, May 29th, 2014 Like a fine wine, Rickie Lambert’s life just keeps getting better and better. The veteran striker, who just four years ago was playing in League 2 with Bristol Rovers, has seen his career shoot to the stars in the last few years, with inclusion in the England set-up, followed by a World Cup call-up. And tonight, it’s gone to another level: the Liverpool-supporting striker has been signed by his childhood club on a 2 year contract. Lambert actually played for Liverpool’s underage sides as a boy, from 10 to 15, before being released. It’s been a long road back, but he’s finally on his way back to Anfield, via Southampton, and his sister Melanie has tweeted her joy over the move, showing how much it means to him and the family www.101greatgoals.com/blog/rickie-lamberts-sister-melanie-tweets-joy-over-liverpool-fan-brothers-move-to-anfield/

What a shame that we couldn't be in League 2 and spend this money on an actual promotion push. Thanks a lot BOD.

Dream move for Lambo, absolutely made up for him. Great news for us also whatever the fee, will hopefully mean we can finally get someone in to replace him and may also help repair some of the damage trash did financially.
The big question though surely is who will take the penaltys at Liverpool next season?

If we make £400k from Rickie, Rochdale would get 25% of that (if that is what the % was)
Just a shame any money we make is going to have to cover losses from last season and relegation rather than a bonus to pay off what we already had

I would be furious if that was the case. The BoD should cover every single penny that we lost last season due to relegation from their own pocket. Not a loan either. Their own actual pockets. They absolutely f**ked us and should pay for it. Every SINGLE penny of any money we get due to Lambo's transfer to Liverpool should be spent on improving the team. We should be on the phone to Halifax first thing this morning.
