I think he'll could get 15 goals in league and cup this season. He knew where the goal is for sure and I think we've missed out on a useful player for whatever reasons. Would not be surprised if he did not want to come to us given the lack of game time given to him last year by DC again for whatever reason. When Stoke gave him a contract I thought they were seeking a fee but clearly not.You don't think there is a fee in this deal? Bury's twitter says free transfer...a gift who I'm sure will score more for Bury than Nichols will score for us.

Guess at least now we will find out if there really was a decent player in there...
I am inclined to trust DC on this one and assume league 2 is about his level.

Didn't need the short arse dude anyway. OK being short but you need to be strong on the ball and Telford is...

All this guesswork about him not wanting to come to us cracks me up, can anyone show me where DC wanted him but he turned us down?
Also, are all 23 other managers wrong about him too?

I assume other Div 1 managers agree with DC that he hasn't ready for our league, personally I'd have taken him over over Reilly but DC clearly knows best. Assuming Beckford is still at Bury and fully fit they seem to have a decent strike force for Div 2. Everyone said they had a decent team for League 1! I can see them struggling again.

I think he will be a good signing for Bury and can see him scoring a lot of goals in League 2.
Who knows whether DC wanted him, tried to get him, was rejected etc? I would have liked to have seen him here as he looked to have something about him but we move on.
There's an argument that he has been replaced by Reilly anyway. It's Gaffers and Ellis we need to replace now.

If D.C. wanted him I’m sure he would have made an offer and we will never know if he did or didn’t. Not sure he was the answer and I’d imagine that if he was the answer he would be here having been made a good offer. But we don’t know. I trust DC to sign the players he needs, he’s earned it. Telford has signed for Bury good luck to him and we move on. Let’s hope we don’t get another 6 page thread on a player who’s signed for someone else! Roll on 4th August. UTG!

I am please you are so easily amused, if no one speculated about issues then the forum would be a very quiet place. Hope the crack heals soon.

Probably didn't want to come, sit on the bench and watch Nicholls To be honest I don’t really want to come stand in the thatchers and watch Nichols either and I’m Gas through and through so can hardly blame him.

Suggest you both read my post as I said decent strike force not decent team, given Beckford scored 8 in 15 before his injury he should have no trouble finding the net in Div 2, assuming he's still there in a couple of weeks.

No need to get upset topper , I read your post and fully understand it. Fact if the matter is they went down , so it’s totally irrelevant who they had / have upfront.

Dc played a 4-3-2-1 formation for most of the 2nd half of the season maybe longer and that he honestly didnt feel that formation suited dom telford. We have a player called rhys kavanah who like dom needs to play off a bigger striker in a front 2 in the development squad who stuggled a bit with this system like dom. I think dc made a mistake in some ways because telford is a good striker with goals in him but it was an honest mistake because of the formation we used. I also think we will start off with this same formation this season coming.

Seems to have potential but think the love-in was a bit overboard tbh. Decent player who quite possibly has a bright future, but he's signed for L2 club so perhaps he's not quite as good as some seem to think he is. Yes on a free and as a squad player I guess he wouldn't have been a bad signing - but he may have wanted first team football (not good enough yet IMO) or wanted silly wages to just warm the bench.
Ultimately we need better and don't have a limitless budget to just offer out (probably reasonable) contracts to players who aren't really ready to feature permanently yet.

And the clue is in the club he signed for. It seems very likely that even if we were interested, Bury would have been willing to pay a bigger wage and that’s fine by me.

He wasn't our player, it's Stoke's loss.

Would have like him to have had more of a chance last season, but I guess DC needed to use the "asset" he had already invested in to see if he could come good.
At the end of the day it's not as if we've lost out to another league 1 club, so that must say something about DC's judgement ... no harm done.
Now on to the hard bit... to find a goal scorer of league 1 quality.

Monty very popular at Vale since his conversion to left back. They have no less than eleven new players but Ricky Miller still not given clearance to play due to a disciplinary matter still hanging over him at Peterborough according to Radio Stoke to-day.

I can't see how Bury could pay DT more than a mid table Div 1 side, particularly one who've just banked £750K from a player sale! DT talked last season about getting loan players in nearing the end of their contracts so they were potential signings, then let DT & Bola sign for other clubs, so not sure what he was inferring now by those comments. Anyway DT seems to have impressed his new club in one of rare outings for Rovers www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/how-performance-bristol-rovers-convinced-1822144

Gutted at this.
If we don’t sign at least 2 strikers before the window we’re in real trouble
