I went to the Queue to get a drink before the game. Whilst waiting in the long queue to get served I could see all drinks prices had gone up £1.50 to £2. A 33% increase. It took me nearly 15 mins to get served, I seen a few people even walk out of the queue.
Added to the fact that we have sold our best player and DC has now said not expect a marquee signing.
Keith Brookman appears to have been treated like crap.
Season ticket prices increased with no secondary price freeze. It is really starting to stink at the moment and I wouldn't blame DC for getting out as soon as he can.
No early bird prices on tickets.
I trust DC to get the best out of his players but I don't trust him to be fully backed.
As for today's farce of a friendly. We started off well but were poor in both boxes. Lack of a target man was obvious in the first half. Nichols put his foot in but flattered to deceive, service wasn't great to him in his defence and he was roughed up by Exeter.
Matthews looked promising and Reilly looked particularly promising when he come on. Sercombe was poor and didn't do enough, maybe better in a 3 than 2 man midfield. Broadbent was poor today.
I'm not a happy clapper or a naysayer. I say it how I see it and tonight I feel really deflated. I felt a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth before the game as there has been a few signs that we are getting more corporate. Today's defeat has just soured my thoughts even more.

Regards today's game at least the new signings showed promise.
Sercombe and Broadbent may have been poor but at least we know they are capable of much better.
Anyone follow James Clarke on insta and see his 'story' or whatever they're called yesterday? Was funny, video of a long row of first teamers catching flies on the flight home. They would've been fooked today.

It was a strange game as 0-4 sounds a lot worse than the performance. We weren't great though.

There won't be any marquee signings if we pay £1.50 a drink. It's not complicated either we each pay more to watch/drink/eat or we find more people to watch/drink/eat or we find somebody to give the club money with no expectation of seeing a return on it.

What, a 33% is a big increase in one go? Personally think that is disgusting. And what about the money we have had in for outgoing players? I'm sure that will go a long way to marquee signings.

So where does the money come from for marquee signings? The club accounts get published every year. The sale of players is what has ensured we still have a club. Unless us 8000 become 16000 we will have to dig deeper or encourage someone to buy the club who is willing to gift us money. I don't like it anymore than any other fan. We can't though complain about £2 for a cup of tea but then expect the Al Qadi's to gift us endless cash.

I walked in to get a pint at 2.30pm and walked straight out again because the queue was so long. So whatever they were charging they lost my business.

If you consider it too expensive, then don't buy it.

If you consider it too expensive, then don't buy it. That would be common logic in any other walk of life, but I think the issue here is that most fans are happy to pay a premium price to help the club, it's just a question of when the premium is so high fans feel it's necessary to spend else where?

I very rarely buy food/drink at the ground. The surprise to me is how cheap it was, thus its a large percentage increase, but the beer is still cheaper than any pub in Chip sod high street.

The club are looking to increase income. I doubt that that would change even if we’d got £millions for Ellis. Whatever we get for players will have no link to what is being charged in the bars, for food or any other part of the ground. They will be entirely different operations. The owners will not be planning to be ragbag Rovers there will be a price to be paid for becoming “more professional.” Us fans will have the freedom to buy food and drink at the club or not. I have always chosen not to and because I have an almost 3 hour journey I bring my own, it’s much cheaper and I quite enjoy sitting on the benches on Kellaway Avenue eating a late lunch after parking up. I’m sure there will be plenty who will pay the prices to fill the club coffers. Personal choice I guess. UTG!

Welcome to modern day football GGMI!
You either accept it or you don't! The problem our board have is that if loyal fans don't attend, why would new fans watch us over that lot down the road!?

So the gist of this thread and others after yesterday's result, seamlingly one of the worst performances in living memory, is we're doomed. We want/need marquee signings, the ground is a dump and tea etc is too expensive.
The result seems to be that some people refuse to eat/drink in the ground and either bring their own food or use local hostelries.
So the question remains where will the money for future success come from. In this era of football turnover and success are more linked than ever before. The likelihood of someone doing a Wimbledon are becoming vanishingly small.
We don't have a fairy godmother like some local clubs do. We have an owner that told us from the outset the club will develop through sustainable growth. Even those other local clubs are having to contribute to ever higher prices to match the gifts bestowed upon them.
The big clubs now are large corporate bodies who treat their fans like the customers they are.
I don't mean to sound facetious but if we carry on paying £1.50 for a cup of tea we'll probably always be buying the tea bags in Poundland.
So the position remains the same. Either the 8000 become 16000 or we few dig deeper for the cause. DC had pretty much said the same thing regarding season ticket purchases.

But do we need a President, Chairman and CEO plus a £250K office in London if the owners are watching every £? That lot between them must be costing the club £500K+ more than they were under NH, that's a 250K extra cups of coffee/tea etc they now need to sell! Although I've no idea how are prices compare with other Div 1 clubs, are we just falling into line them?

Found an article online from last season; AFC Wimbledon, Charlton and Oxford United all charge £4 for a pie. Oldham charge £2.50 for a cup of tea.
Also Peterborough are charging us £26 for Saturdays game! I believe Wigan away cost £30 last season?
If we were to see all the prices from league one, I think we would be around mid table. A bit like the team!
