For me the most pressing issue is to sort our own side out first. By that I mean anything from the centre to the left. The left have a lot of problems and they need fixing before they can start calling out the right. |

The left have a lot of problems and they need fixing before they can start calling out the right. Speaking from the centre, I despair at the state of our politics. The two main parties are broken, hopelessly split amongst themselves. I wish the democratic core of both parties would form a new party, based upon social democratic free market principles. But sadly I think those people will just walk away. We will be left with the extremes of left and right, outbidding each other with extreme populist offers, like a Mad Hatters Tea Party. Brexit is the door they will walk through on this fantasy, a bit like Alice. |

I read John Major was doing speeches as well about stopping brexit. He has. Quite scathing of his own Mps. Seems like May might be forced out this week. If we end up with Johnson or Davies as PM then I think I give up. |

I was thinking, with oldies like me where there can be no real consequence, maybe we should be the ones that up the ante of resistance? Tongue in cheek, but oh for the spirit of 68-70. I always liked John Major, just those he was put into Cabinet to try and balance the party. Sound familiar?
I see Jonny Mercer has been outspoken too and seveal papers today suggesting TM has only a few days to sort things out. Some suggesting David Davis is up for an interim PM then hand over to the next generation after Brexit.
Not for me and I don't see how that would actually resolve the divisions.

Politics is just a sideshow these days.
Companies like Google, Amazon and Facebook just do what they like, invest where they like and pay whatever tax they like.
They're not frightened of people like Trump when they have most of the world as their marketplace.
And the Chinese as sure as hell don't give a flying fig about what anyone thinks. They just power onwards and upwards.
Makes Brexit and its implications look pretty insignificant really when we are being manipulated by these other much more powerful players.
