Sorry guys & gals im not sure if this is the appropriate thread thread really? I had no interest in the game today as my brother passed away last night. I’m devestated he was a true gashead for 50 years +, I’m not after sympathy I just wondered how I would go about getting his name mentioned at next weeks game? I will be there out of respect for him, another true gashead gone the tote end in the sky! Would anyone be able to put in touch with the right person for a shout out next week? Please PM if you can? UTG. Sorry for your loss Marshy, may he rest in peace. If you’re looking for a shout out, I think you need to get hold of Lance Cook as Nick Day is no longer the PA. Sorry Marshy. DC sounding very frustrated and down. "No positives" from today for him. Well Wes i watched the game on ifollow and he is right, the back 4 came onto the pitch 10 minutes after the start. Lines was very poor in the middle. Nichols was OK when they played through balls to him not big slogs up the field when he was up against a giant of a No 5 All the new boys did OK But that back 4 oh dear oh dear |

It would be f**king hilarious if this Bakayoko doesn’t sign for us and it was someone else , seriously all you lot arguing over this lad need to get a grip! He hasn’t signed yet , if i remember rightly there were a load of belter posts aimed at Lumley when he first came in as he wasn’t deemed good enough or had enough experience, look how that ended , the same twats slagging him off were f**king moaning that we didn’t sign him permanently!!!!! Even if it is him he deserves a chance! Look at Oli Mcburnie no one really seemed to have rated him including DC and he's been banging them in at championship level recently. Some signings don't work out for certain clubs but blossom at other clubs so let's give him a chance. |

I can see what both of you mean. Total respect for watching him today, and what you saw. I doubt anyone is ignoring your belief. Hugo is obviously fustrated, as we all are. I could have easily written the same reply as him. I totally feel like that, even if he has played 'well'. People used to say about Jamie Cureton 'all he does is hang around, and score goals'. Bit of a sweeping statement but Ok, yes there were times JC seemed to do little but he DID score goals. Against any type of defender. He would find a way. Exactly the same stories could be told about a lot of the strikers in our history, from penny (too small..), Bruno (clumsy), lambo (unfit), walker & miller (too slow), kuffour (just jinks around a lot), BUT all of them would have games where they shined, games they found their niche, games they used the 1 or 2 special bits in their armour to do something, and games where they adapted. I still have never seen what 'special' skill Nichols has. Not a poacher (JC, snake), not that fast (Hayles), not strong (Bruno et Al), not particularly clever (lambo, walks), not someone who provides loads of assists , not someone who holds the ball up / back to goal (Billy oceon), not an all rounder (lambo again). I watched the game on ifollow and whilst I agree he did Ok and service etc wasn't amazing to him. I also agree with everything you have put and said the same myself. He has no one outstanding quality. Probably technically fairly decent if anything but I can never remember a game where he has really impressed me. Unlike Luke James who had the occasional good game, although odd Posh booed Nichols every time he touched the ball, if he was as poor for them as us you'd think they'd be glad he left them! I assume DC's signing a big No 9 do he can bring Nichols into the game more, so it'll be interesting to see if that leads to any improvement. |

what a disgrace today but was it expected after the preseason we had once again everyone will be looking at us and laughing at us everyone saying we need a striker but we haven't a defence either goodness knows what d c has being doing since the end of last season whatever it is it's been a waste of time and effort the only way to get us moving forward with any hole of staving off relegation us to get rid if dc the sooner the better in fact tonight would not be early enough wake up owners and fire tord and look at what he us doing to our club dc out dc out now Would prefer Midland out. Midland out now. DC is far more important to Rovers than you will ever be. Why don't you take your "allegience" elsewhere? |

Thanks for posting. Looks like James Clarke was slow to close down the winger for the first and Leads ineffective with his challenge. For the second appeared that O'Hara got in front of Tony Craig (not a question of height, but awareness). We do have to do better defending crosses for sure. Both stopping them coming in and dealing with those that do. |

We had Ellis who held it up well last season and he had Nichols alongside him plenty and Nichols was sh**e. Many in here talking about having a big man for Nichols to play off but 90% of the time we play 4-3-3 attacking or 4-5–1 without that ball so I’f we bring in a big target man where’s Nichols going to play ? Probably wide left or wide right which again comes back to him playing so say “ out of position” and therefore probably still ineffective. |

I think you're right though. Partington and hopefully Holmes-Dennis are better defensively. |
