what a disgrace today but was it expected after the preseason we had once again everyone will be looking at us and laughing at us everyone saying we need a striker but we haven't a defence either goodness knows what d c has being doing since the end of last season whatever it is it's been a waste of time and effort the only way to get us moving forward with any hole of staving off relegation us to get rid if dc the sooner the better in fact tonight would not be early enough wake up owners and fire tord and look at what he us doing to our club dc out dc out now Would prefer Midland out. Midland out now. DC is far more important to Rovers than you will ever be. Why don't you take your "allegience" elsewhere? Well said Eric, DC has given us two promotions in spite of two sets of owners who have been reckless and incompetent in the first instance and disingenuous and dishonest in the second. He is a true BRFC legend and sadly he will probably be gone soon enough and if it turns to sh** when he does I hope everyone on this forum lets MidlandGas know that he’s as good for our F.C. as a shithead.

Sorry guys & gals im not sure if this is the appropriate thread thread really? I had no interest in the game today as my brother passed away last night. I’m devestated he was a true gashead for 50 years +, I’m not after sympathy I just wondered how I would go about getting his name mentioned at next weeks game? I will be there out of respect for him, another true gashead gone the tote end in the sky! Would anyone be able to put in touch with the right person for a shout out next week? Please PM if you can? UTG. Sincere condolences, Marshy, tends to put things into perspective. Hope you get the mention, well deserved too no doubt.

Just back from the game. Brief synopsis;-
Dreadful first 25 mins and looked like we would get absolutely battered. Totally incompetent defending. Peterborough were though nothing special and in the second half we completely dominated and should have got something from the game.
The late subs improved things massively Reilly has an aggression about him that I really like and he will rough up and unsettle defences in a way that the ‘too nice’ Nicholls will not. Sam Mathews ran at them and created chances for himself and others, he will be a very important player for us on this showing.
There is some promise about this side and the new guys are alll comfortable on the ball and adding something new. If we can add a battering ram ‘no 9’ we will be ok.

Reasons to be cheerful......27 of 68 teams lost today..................if we beat Stanley we would have won 50 % of our games, giving us 69 points at seasons end and a decent shot at play offs..................some teams conceded 3,4,5,6, today!................A Tom scored for us today!22% of our fans expected us to concede 3 or more today................66% of fans didn't expect us to score!................Feeling the blues match report!......................England won the test match!

God this is all so negative - last year we lost opening day 4-1. This year only 2-1 massive improvement . Loads of shots around (if not on) goal. We always lose the first game and so what if gaffers has scored two leagues down, and doige has scored in the second division, neither of them have scored a goal today in the first division. It's the fist game of the season and we lost 2-1 away - would have liked to win but didn't. I guess we will get a striker in the next week, but I also assume DC has some confidence in who he has already. 16+ attempts can't be so. Ad, just a little more composure needed. Well done for going to the end lads. We'll done DC for putting on a raft of really attacking substitutions, well done Tom Lockyer for your goal. With respect isn't claiming a 'massive improvement' because we lost 2-1 instead of 4-1 like winning a 'tallest dwarf' competition? Last I checked the league doesn't award pity points because you lost by 1. We have 0 points after game 1, same as we had 0 points after game 1 last season.

What little I saw of him I'd give him a bit of the final point but agree with the first 3. He seems to know the dark arts but those will be negated in some games, when his weaknesses are exposed in other ways (e.g. height or pace). A very strange signing. Very old school signing - experience but not sure what else. And very much against our usual transfer policy - a long contract for an older guy & said he'd come for game time (clearly expects it, and gets it). Mass majority of Lge 1 teams seem to have 2 big, physical CBs. Physiology of CBs has changed a lot since Craig was a lad. He's very small really. The only 1 we have is young & mysteriously has hardly got used since the winter. DC likes to bring in veteran players who's legs have gone, then insist on playing them because they will calm the youngsters and the experience will rub off. He persisted with that Lawrence bloke (when he was fit) and also Easter (when he was fit) He is now playing Craig, and unfortunately he doesn't seem to get injured very often so he always bastard plays. Lines, before anyone says it, was a known quantity, his legs hadn't gone, and for some reason DC doesn't seem to worry about dropping him. What I find amazing, and a complete dereliction, is that the club sold our only 2 bigger forwards, then did f@ck all about replacing them until far too late. Talk about sleep walking to disaster, what we're all these additional members of staff doing in the close season, counting sheep? Its a f@cking disgrace, saying we can't get in forwards from poxy, league 2 sides because we can't afford them. Utter bollocks, and if the owners don't want to support the manager with a decent kitty and budget they should sell up and f@ck off back to Arabia and run their f@cking bank. Arabia? ??

Tom Nichols had a good game today, we just played the complete wrong style of football for him. We have a good midfield but all we seemed to do in the first half is hoof the ball to him where he’d get beaten by the bigger defenders. His work rate wasn’t too bad though, could have been better but he played the best I’ve seen him. Linesy had a poor game, as did Rodman. Sercs had the occasional flourish as did Bennett but they both were in their wrong positions imo. If they swapped both would have performed better. Sercs is not a winger and Is better suited playing just behind the front. We had no height in defence and this was shown for both goals , however we were ultimately unlocked in the midfield for both since that’s where they won in the first half however that changed in the second. Matthews & Reilly both looked good when they came on & so did Mensah who held the ball well. The formers should definitely start next week but for who? Lines & Rodman in my opinion. The only style of football that would suit Nicholls is one where there aren't any opposition defenders and the goal is 30 feet wide. Even then he'd probably kick the ball straight at the keeper. Or muscled off the ball, by a passing butterfly.

After watching the game it looks like; - Our defence is pretty much the same as last season (going to concede lots from crosses again) - Midfield is even stronger and if it gels it could be the best one we have had for many years. - Up front obviously much weaker right now. Hopefully this will be improved this week.
The meltdowns are just ridiculous. I don't even remember them being this bad four years ago!

I'll ask you the same question I asked you last season, if you want DC out so badly, name a better manager currently available. You wont find one.

Really is becoming embarrassing and tiresome some now Midland. FYI, we were excellent second half, I guess that Stewy was probably calling the shots for that though....

Sorry to hear about your loss Marshy. Thanks for all your messages guys, as you can imagine I’m in bits he was Rovers through and through, Hopefully I can sort something out, Thanks again. So sorry to hear about your loss mate. They say time is a healer but you never really heal from it you just get used to the pain but it’s important to feel it because that’s what keeps them alive in your heart.

I've got a really good feeling about Reilly. He looks like he will at least work the opposition even if not at his best. Matthews looks promising too.

He makes mistakes, sure, but he 'gets' this club and given time will stabilise us and take us up. Just out of interest is our progress too slow for you?
