I am not trying to be controversial or offensive here , but racism is not restricted to football it is a society problem, for some of us older generation that are not pc minded we may say things that many years ago were acceptable and we would have said them fondly or as a joke not offensive, sometimes the pc brigade go overboard. And again racism is a two way thing we lived in a house for over 30 years and had an Asian family of 8 adults move in next door into a 3 bed semi and made our lives hell . We had to move due to my wife’s health over this and lost over £40k on our house due to it. So please remember in future YES in this day and age racism is unnaceptable but as I said above racism is a two way offence and we can be racially abused by others as well As I said not trying to be controversial or offensive

In what other problem would one person's point of view be considered and another ones ignored? I get the feeling that only white people are racist. This is a racist as we are all the same.

If we want to talk about racism in football this is the place. If we want to talk about racism in the wider context then that belongs in General Chat, thanks. (Yes, I know they're inextricable, really.)

What about them being there made you the subject of racist abuse?
Such a tiresome excuse the "it was acceptable in my day" or "pc brigade go overboard". Times change, and you're showing yourself up with 1970's views.

If they’d been white would it have been any worse or easier ? I dislike you more and more with each post.

No he's just being very honest. Like I said both sides have to be listened to not just one.

It never ceases to surprise me how my many of my generation cannot recognise the ignorance and stupidity of their own attitudes and words. It makes me depressed to read it. Some of us remember the late 60s and 70s where it was ok to out signs of "no blacks" on rental property ads. Naming the race of a family next door, however badly behaved, is the same attitude. Bad behaviour is bad behaviour, race and ethnicity has naff all to do with it.

Any one can be racially abused. The fact that you felt you had to make a point about 'remember racism works both ways' clearly demonstrates your association that 'normal racism' is white on black. That in itself is worthy of some self reflection. Your notion that you mean no harm whilst saying unacceptable things does not exonerate you and whilst it might mean you are not intentionally malicious it does make you ignorant. Today we do not say these things, yesterday they were said without malice, before that they were said with malice. You have some catching up to do - today we do not do this and it is only ignorance that appeases your assumption that it is still ok. Reflect on that too. Your neighbours caused you hell and happened to be Asian. You caused your neighbours hell and happened to be a male. It is YOUR associations that you should reflect on. They used to burn witches.

This has just topped off a cracking morning with saving £200 on my car insurance, my new credit card works, a Bond has just paid it's interest, and now this. Brilliant.

And yes we can be, but in my 30 odd years I have never been the victim of racism and I would venture neither have any of my friends who are white. My friends who are BAME on the other hand face racism every single day.

I find it interesting given your post that you only focus on the word black ,the signs read No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs , why did you leave the Irish out as at the time they were hated more than most. Whilst i agree that bad behaviour is bad behaviour no matter who causes it ,people seem to have a closed mind when reading midlands posts ,i read it as it was intended that as most people seem to believe that racism is a whites only problem ,he was highlighting something that happened to him, how would people have reacted if he said that he forced the asians out ,quite correctly people would have had a right benny at him ,however he didn't say that ,he said the opposite and again people had a benny at him ,he was simply highlighting the fact that racism can come from anywhere. Reread it with an open mind ,he's saying that racism isn't solely a white problem but when it's muted to be from a non white people get their knickers in a twist and claim the poster is racist

My issue with Midland is that he raised the issue of poor behaviour from his neighbours. In itself not an issue, perhaps many of us have felt the same on occasion about neighbours. My issue is he related it to the fact they were Indian, and a family of 8. Neither is relevant, the only relevance is their poor behaviour (as claimed). Why mention their ethnicity?

Plenty of those signs still in evidence except they say Muslims only....There is discrimination against whites in job ads as well where only people from ethnic backgrounds are invited to apply.

I believe he is, I also believe he doesn't realise it That's very arrogant and you don't realise it Nothing arrogant in expressing an opinion. Not liking my opinion does not make me arrogant.
