Thank you for posting this. It never ceases to surprise me how my many of my generation cannot recognise the ignorance and stupidity of their own attitudes and words. It makes me depressed to read it. Some of us remember the late 60s and 70s where it was ok to out signs of "no blacks" on rental property ads. Naming the race of a family next door, however badly behaved, is the same attitude. Bad behaviour is bad behaviour, race and ethnicity has naff all to do with it. Plenty of those signs still in evidence except they say Muslims only....There is discrimination against whites in job ads as well where only people from ethnic backgrounds are invited to apply. I have a client who has problems and my task is to get him more integrated into society. This week we looked at social groups he could join. There were many entitled eg BAME group which as he is white we didn't think he was included in those letters. I know the do gooders and ideologists on here believe in promoting seperation, but it doesn't work and it will get worse in the future. One Love the only answer IMHO. |

Nothing arrogant in expressing an opinion. Not liking my opinion does not make me arrogant. Telling someone they don't realise it is, as it is trying to suppress the power of their response, their disagreement with the insult you have just given them. I didn't tell anyone anything. I expressed a belief. That doesn't make me right, as in an opinion. You are extrapolating my comment into something which what? Tries to justify the unjustifiable? One of my neighbours is a complete tosser, sadly we have fallen out a few times over the years, mainly because he acts a bit lord of the manor and hates being challenged. When I talk about him to others, I never say, my white skinned middle class neighbour is a tosser. Why, because his skin colour makes absolutely no difference to the fact that he a complete bell end most of the time. It seems to come naturally to him regardless of what skin his personality is enshrouded in.
So why did midland have to say that his neighbours were of a particular race?
Why not say what they did or how they were that drove him mad, rather than focusing on some kind of racial stereo type.

I can't speak for him but probably because racism is generally thought of as white to non whites, leaving the impression that non whites are always well behaved. I find it interesting given your post that you only focus on the word black ,the signs read No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs , why did you leave the Irish out as at the time they were hated more than most. Whilst i agree that bad behaviour is bad behaviour no matter who causes it ,people seem to have a closed mind when reading midlands posts ,i read it as it was intended that as most people seem to believe that racism is a whites only problem ,he was highlighting something that happened to him, how would people have reacted if he said that he forced the asians out ,quite correctly people would have had a right benny at him ,however he didn't say that ,he said the opposite and again people had a benny at him ,he was simply highlighting the fact that racism can come from anywhere. Reread it with an open mind ,he's saying that racism isn't solely a white problem but when it's muted to be from a non white people get their knickers in a twist and claim the poster is racist I have no issues with accepting there is racism within all societies and ethnic groupings.
