I felt during GT interview that Starnes lack of urgency was a strong hint it is his job to lose if he can prove he’s up to it. (Still don’t ounderstand the “lots of games, so it will take time” point. Does Starnes play those games?!?!) Would not surprise me if he was brought in as succession plan anyway as was always pretty clear MS wasn’t manager material. Keeping him would be evolution. But I’d worry whether he can shake it up enough and attract in new players we will need (for peanuts)

Seems like a top bloke and most importantly out of that for me was “ I wanted us to use width , two right footers on the right and two left footers on the left” This as I’ve said many times this season has been our biggest downfall all season playing players on the wrong sides has made our play predictable and narrow . I wasn’t there today but it sounded like we made use of that width and Sunderland knew they were in a game. Give him the fleetwood game and a chance to go again , early signs are good with this bloke as he’s clearly identified what’s been the biggest problem and corrected it in his very first game , and thank f**k for that. UTG. He hasn't sorted out Craig's problem of being involved in goals conceded though has he? And what's the betting the cumbersome Centre back will start the next match?

Fair play to Coughlan, I thought he spoke very well in his post-match interview. If we do well while he's Interim Manager, then I wouldn't be against giving him the job until the end of the season. Provides at least a tiny bit of continuity and stability, and then reassess in the summer. Still, let's see how we get on in the next couple of weeks. Good post match interview and honest assessment, but as he says bottom line we lost and while this might be a hard place to come and get a result today was a failure. We are in desperate position so whoever is in charge we need to start winning games soon. Good to hear. I think the “fine lines / honest bunch of lads / train hard, worked hard / not our day” rhetoric from DC was ultimately making losing acceptable. Used it a bit too much for too long in hindsight and when he got tough he lost the dressing room. Don’t start there!

Isn't this attracting new players thing all a bit overdone in the age of agents, as if we offer an agent enough money surely it's down to them to convince the player it's a good move for them? If Payne & Rodman were interested in decent facilities etc rather than a decent contract then why sign for Rovers? The main piece of work must be identifying the right type of players we need and that's the HoR job once the manager has decided the positions he wants filled, which surely needs to be done well before January regardless of what Starnes suggests.

I actually got the impression that Coughlan came across like there was already somebody else lined up and this was just a one off he certainly did not come across as if he felt he was a contender. No fault of Coughlan, but watching that has made me quite sad remembering some of the great DC interviews. UTG

He has only had a short time in charge of course. However he has been here all season and knows as well as we all do, that our central defenders are not up to the job. Lo and behold in his first match in charge, Craig is once again at fault. He chose to pick him, so has to be blamed.

Thought that was a good interview. Sounds like he knows what he’s doing. Better than Cotterill blaming the radio Bristol reporter every time we lose

Considering how managers all blend into one after a while he really conveyed a lot of character. He was a proper one-off.

The worst part of that video though was the little #MakingBristolProud message that popped up at the end. I think a bit of sick came up when I saw that.

Thats quite good by cotterills standards, there is a vid of him abusing the fans.
On the + side it clearly means a lot to him and I don't think he would take any ####.

I think the drop to non league hit him hard and he felt a duty to make it right to us. Whoever the new manager is I will support them, but I would rather have someone with a bit of experience and backbone to stand up to those in charge.

Yeah, we could be getting this: Two things - a. why is keith brookman interviewing for that lot and b. I literally could not listen to that every week I didn't even realise it was Keith Brookman until you mentioned it. Bit odd, but perhaps Hoskin and Hadwin were both unavailable at the time? Michael Flynn is the Newport manager. Done a great job there so far, but it is his home town club, so that probably adds an extra edge to him being there.
