What’s the bet Portsmouth & Sunderland both get drawn at home? The corporate overlords will want a big final to make the competition look good.

It's a late start for a Match Day thread but the atmosphere is building nicely for this cup quarter final. I'm going 3.0 Gas.... UTG Well that's me retiring from starting match day threads. Leaving with a 100% record. One from one

Midfield looks good tonight then Mr Ed comes on .... still not convinced about this guy. More backwards than Lockyer and Lines and messes frequently up facing the wrong direction. Has his head screwed on the wrong way. Better off without him. He’s either had both our managers by the gonads or he’s sublime in training.

First 14 minutes you’d have been forgiven for thinking port vale were the league one team and we were the league two side.
Ollie (my MOTM) then got the first goal and the confidence grew from there.
Whilst Reilly has been criticised for missing a perfect chance it should not be failed to mention he delivered a fantastic pass to Nichols and their partnership showed potential.
I thought most of the starting 11 clicked well together and put in a good showing and wouldn’t be against giving them a go against Peterborough. Particular note to Nichols who can’t have been far off Ollie in my own estimation of who should be MOTM but still can’t quite score, Rodman, Partington (first 15 mins aside) and Bennett who worked well with THD who is impressing his self well on the gas faithful. Ultimately - what many said we were missing in the dieing days of the Clarke era - width.
Subs wise Sercs looked a little rusty at first from various injuries and illnesses of late, Jak didn’t get much of a chance to impress but looked lively. I’ve made my thoughts clear already on Upson.
Whilst the score line looks like the result of the sending off I wouldn’t say that means if flatters us. Reillys perfect opportunity, Nichols hitting the post, and sercombe at the end shows we were dominating that match but still need that criticality.
Ultimately a thoroughly enjoyable and entertainingly match to watch despite the controversy of this competition. Feel sorry for those who are boycotting because I can’t see us grabbing a match by the balls like this manymore times this season.

Well done The Gas ! a stroll at the Mem. GC will be happy but maybe quietly fuming it wasn't 3 at half time !!
Parts and Nichols (espec) staked a claim for Posh game, Lines, Benno and Reilly didn't.
Best players Craig, Ollie, HD ( great 2nd half) and Nichols.
I hope HD's hamstring issue at the end is not serious - he is so important for our survival. Still need that big unit up top to partner Jakubiak or Nichols as again all our corners and free kicks led to sod all !!
Good to see the passing footie but the opposition was pretty weak. Get behind the boys in big numbers next Tuesday !

Nichols, Rodman and THD all very good. Lockyer faultless in his defensive work but distribution let him down. Overall an encouraging performance.

We play Sunderland at home in the league the Saturday before the eflt fixture.... I wonder? We played Notts County in quick succession in 1990. I went to both, disapponted by the league match but definitely preferred the results that way round.
