It's a bit of a non-event to be honest. However, the main point of interest is in the fact that a Jewish female MP has been hounded out of the Labour Party, not for her political beliefs, but because of her religion. Just stop and let that sink in for a few minutes. You think? No chance that her religion is informing people's viewpoints, just maybe? Ummm. She had to have security protection at the last Labour Conference. The abuse directed at her has been well documented.

The abuse? It's all coming from the Momentum attack dogs.

The abuse? It's all coming from the Momentum attack dogs. Racist and driven by their apparent hatred of Jews. Yes?

8 MPs now gone, be interesting to see if the figure leaving comes close to the 30 MP's that left to form the SDP in 1981 and whether any Conservative and Lib Dem MP's follow suit.
Surely now they need to form a party if they want to garner any kind of political identity on their own and get re-elected. If anything it would give them money for research purposes.
Time will tell if this has any significant bearing on British politics, Labours opinion polls already falling below the tories.

I could see more Labour leaving, or Labour people getting on board with The Independent Group.
Labour is going in one direction, which is clear with the likes of Hatton, being allowed back in, and the Tories are jostling on how far right they want to be, then there is clearly Centre ground to be had.
I think joining forces with The ravaged Lib Dems is the way to go for both the IG and Libs. Increase numbers and for the Libs perhaps put the Tory Coalition in the past which basically ruined them

Wouldn't be surprised to see a few Tories go, especially those who are under pressure from possible deselection. Nothing to lose.
Watch for a drip, drip effect over the next few days.
If the Independent Group can overcome the anti Brexit/people's vote bias then many more would join. Some leave MPs are thought to have held back for that reason. Not easy.

Robert Peston suggesting 4 Conservatives going. Names suggested include Allen, Soubry and Wollaston. Tories leaving would be more significant as it reduces the Government's majority even with DUP support. Still not enough though and wouldn't affect Brexit votes anyway, but could it speed up a GE?

Wonder whether MEP Farage elected under UKIP ticket will demand they stand down their seat like what he has?

I'd vote for a reasonable, centerist party.

I'd vote for a reasonable, centerist party. Count me in on that. Would love a couple of principled leave believing MPs to join the group to expand the debate.

I'd vote for a reasonable, centerist party. But this is not really a Centerist Party is it........it's more a collection of people who either a/ want to overturn the result of the referendum, and b/ people who are sick to the back teeth with the direction that Labour have taken.

Wasn't that done to 'widen the debate'. That turned out well didn't it !
