Nothing to do with tonight but just seeing under GC we’ve had 26 points from 15 games (which if we repeated over 30 games we’d be 8th and 3 points off the play offs). Games 15....won 7, drawn 5, lost 3 We scored 23 and conceded 13 goals 15 games under dc we had 14 points (which if we repeated over 30 games we would be bottom of the league) We scored 14 goals and conceded 20 Won 4, drawn 2, lost 9 Not sure what these stats are. Are you counting cup games, or something?

Please, Please, Pleases a narrow defeat. Hopefully JCH and TN not fit for this one but 100 per cent fit for Saturday which is far more important.

As anyone who has read my posts on this topic, I am against this competition in its current format and what it risks - but I would never want us to lose (except perhaps in a play off place scenario to avoid a particular opponent). I want us to win, with squad players stepping up and fighting for the shirt whilst our key players for the relegation fight are rested, or only played for a short while off the bench.

If we're in the playoffs I have faith we'd beat the teams around us so wouldn't have to tactically lose to avoid someone. I want us to lose tonight.

Gasheads wanting us to lose. How selfish is that, just because you don't like the format of the competition, it would appear you don't want other Gasheads to enjoy a day out at Wembley. I support Bristol Rovers and I want us to win every game. Feel free to comeback and tell me I was wrong on the day it is announced that the first under 21 team is entering the league. Until that happens just accept we are all entitled to our own opinions on the matter. Wanting our team to lose however is another matter which I just can't accept . UTG!

The BIG problem is if we win tonight I will not be able to go to Wembley to watch my beloved team, so I don't want to be in that agonizing position of me stuck at home while some friends and family are there, the thought of that makes me sick, so best that scenario does not happen. If we get to the final then of course I will want us to win but hopefully tonight will be the end of this torture.Anybody who has had the common sense to boycott these games can't possibly go to the final can they? if they do then they are hypocrites. The powers to be have certainly a lot to answer for by ruining this competition for the majority.

Pompey supporter here who lives close to Bristol. Good luck tonight, Be great to share the M4 with you on the 31st in a massive convoy. Be good to see an all blue final as well. My son lives and works in Bristol but brought up as a Pompey fan. Anyway, I will be watching closely this evening.

ST holder, not going and haven’t been to a checkatrade game since the changes came in. I’ll be watching on sky, listening to bbc Bristol, on the forum and I must admit that I am buzzing ahead of a game that I’ve tried to play down to myself! I hate you EFL!!!

If you don't mind me giving my 2two penneth on the competition, I will. Most fans and certainly Pompey fans were against this format with the inclusion of the u23 sides. Not only because it felt a slight on our players, but it seemed the end game was introducing these teams into the leagues. The Pompey hierarchy initially voted against this and I haven't been to any of the games.
I only found out last week that the Football League have said that these teams will never be brought into the leagues without the express agreement of the lower league teams. Our management now support the competition as a result. So, whilst the format is still questionable, the threat has receded and not really worth the boycott.
I will go to the final as a result of this new knowledge. Many Pompey are burying the hatchet as a consequence of this. Such a shame to miss a Wembley opportunity for a cause that may no longer worth be fighting for. Our clubs don't get many opportunity to do so.
I won't say any more on this subject on your boards as it's not my place. But I am unaware how many of you Gasheads knew of this change or whether it would change the stance of some people. .

That is a very selfish attitude. If we get to Wembley the likes of us have to just suck it up and stick to our principles, whatever they may be.

The League 1 & 2 clubs were also given the chance to change the EFL Trophy back to the old format, but voted in favour of keeping it due to increased prize money which is funded by the Premier League clubs. Who's to say they wouldn't do the same if the Premier League offered big money in return for B teams in the EFL!? We already know Guardiola and others support the idea. Most lower league teams are struggling to break even. Clubs like Sunderland and Pompey will probably be back in the top 2 divisions in the next couple of years, so I can see why it might not seem such a big deal to you.

Hang on a minute. Those on here who are attending tonight have been telling me that U-23 teams will never play in the League, this competition is totally separate and a different thing altogether, and there's no need to worry. Now, apparently, they are after all going to be introduced to L1 and L2 after a vote?? Possibly a vote influenced by the promise of some sweeteners?
