I really really hope we win tonight - just like every other game we play. IF & its a big IF we end up playing reserve teams from the PL or Championship in the lower leagues, in years to come, then that’s our fault as a club for being a lower league team. If we win or lose tonight it wont affect a thing. But those who want to boycott, then do so, but wanting us to lose, well I find that pathetic COME ON ROVERS!!!!!!

If you don't mind me giving my 2two penneth on the competition, I will. Most fans and certainly Pompey fans were against this format with the inclusion of the u23 sides. Not only because it felt a slight on our players, but it seemed the end game was introducing these teams into the leagues. The Pompey hierarchy initially voted against this and I haven't been to any of the games. I only found out last week that the Football League have said that these teams will never be brought into the leagues without the express agreement of the lower league teams. Our management now support the competition as a result. So, whilst the format is still questionable, the threat has receded and not really worth the boycott. I will go to the final as a result of this new knowledge. Many Pompey are burying the hatchet as a consequence of this. Such a shame to miss a Wembley opportunity for a cause that may no longer worth be fighting for. Our clubs don't get many opportunity to do so. I won't say any more on this subject on your boards as it's not my place. But I am unaware how many of you Gasheads knew of this change or whether it would change the stance of some people. . Hang on a minute. Those on here who are attending tonight have been telling me that U-23 teams will never play in the League, this competition is totally separate and a different thing altogether, and there's no need to worry. Now, apparently, they are after all going to be introduced to L1 and L2 after a vote?? Possibly a vote influenced by the promise of some sweeteners? It's just a supporter of another club repeating what he's been told, it doesn't necessarily mean it's the fact. The EFL stance has always been U23 teams entering the league is not on the agenda at present. Whether that remains the case or changes now that Harvey's gone is unknown.

Fair play he's going for it but I'm terrified that JCH is gonna get injured as we don't look like scoring unless he's in the team.

But tonight, if we do, then I will not be upset. If anyone gets injured and misses the crucial end of the league season I will be upset and openly question the management judgement.

As anyone who has read my posts on this topic, I am against this competition in its current format and what it risks - but I would never want us to lose (except perhaps in a play off place scenario to avoid a particular opponent). I want us to win, with squad players stepping up and fighting for the shirt whilst our key players for the relegation fight are rested, or only played for a short while off the bench. The BIG problem is if we win tonight I will not be able to go to Wembley to watch my beloved team, so I don't want to be in that agonizing position of me stuck at home while some friends and family are there, the thought of that makes me sick, so best that scenario does not happen. If we get to the final then of course I will want us to win but hopefully tonight will be the end of this torture.Anybody who has had the common sense to boycott these games can't possibly go to the final can they? if they do then they are hypocrites. The powers to be have certainly a lot to answer for by ruining this competition for the majority. Not sure as a club we can afford to wave £250K/£500K away just to appease some fans principles. The final will now be seen as a success regardless as to whether we're in it or not.

Don't agree with the format, but it will be money that talks regarding any future decisions - not the numbers through the gates in this competition.
Enjoy your evening - wherever you may be!

The final will now be seen as a success regardless as to whether we're in it or not. Running the risk of being bumped out to make way for the Man City B team would cost a lot more than 250/500k. If we're in the final we will have a much lower crowd than usual and that will send a message to the EFL about the fans feelings on the competition.
