I remember one of Waels first interviews. This , pretty much to the word. ā My family think Iām mad , but I love football and I can see what a great club this is and Iām ambitious and want to build this club from the ground up , evolution not revolution , they think Iām mad but I talked them in to it and slowly they are becoming more interested ā It would seem the obstacles that the family have faced along the way have left Wael fighting a corner on his own with the majority of our supporters in one of the other corners and his family in another corner . That leaves one more corner. If he can find an investor to support him in his vision , and yes I do believe he has one , then maybe he can achieve what his aim was when his family bought the club 3 years ago. I donāt hold my breathe though. if heās still looking after 3 years then itās time for him to move on itās not happening

I believe Wael has the best intentions but think he and his family are in way over their heads I would have thought that the āfamilyā see it as a business only and because of that they arenāt in over their heads because they realise that no way does it make financial sense in the short term. Their heads are telling them to get out or at least not put much more money in. And I doubt if their hearts were ever in it, it was 100% business for them. Wael on the other hand his heart may be in it but he doesnāt pull the money strings. But, as you said, he probably does have the best intentions....but unfortunately not the family money.Ā UTG! 100% right. I think the family thought buying a club with huge potential from one of the largest uk cities that also doesnt have a premiership side in it was an investment. We were also on the verge of our 2nd promotion in a row with planning for the UWE agreed. They thought buy in and invest little then sell for a profit once we were a top championship/premier club.5/6 years of little investment but huge reward...but the UWE went tits up and they want out now. I dont think they will screw us over, and Ive no doubt that Wael wants to drive us on and cares. But we need new owners asap.

When was the last time we were higher than Lg1? That mentality is the problem...why don't we aim to be higher than league 1? Because it's unrealistic and more to the point, completely unsustainable until the infrastructure of the club is hugely improved.

Some investment that would have been lol. No one buys a football club to make money.

Having considered the interview, it was pretty honest, but all rather depressing.
It's all OK though, because I'm a personal friend of Wael, and when he comes round to my place for tea tomorrow I'm going to give him a big hug.

Gills could have been a perfect fit as spend Ā£x amount and get Div 1 football for little annual outlay as they usually break even, somebody (NH &/or SH?) sold Wael a dream and it's most likely turned into a nightmare for the family.

Gillingham have quite abit of potential themselfs, they could have alot of Essex and kent behind them if they had the ground and money invested in them.Im sure they took 40k to wembley in 99 vs man city in the playoff final. Our owners invested due to the potential we have - in order to first return the money they would invest, then 2nd to make a very large profit once sold hoping for us to be a top level championship/premiership club. This family are not like the dunfords or Higgs,or even Pantsdown over in Bs3 - that were born in or around Bristol and are fans of there clubs. Our owners brought us as a family investment and Weals hobby.Nothing else to date proves otherwise.

When the UWE deal fell through we were told that the Mem would be developed instead. Now Wael says that DS are working to build a new stadium somewhere, so the Mem will not be developed, nor will the training ground as it is tied in with a new stadium. Well, we don't know how hard they are working towards a new stadium - but, if they aren't, or can't, then they now have an excuse not to improve the Mem either. Could that be why Wael appeared on Geoff's show tonight?

Iāve met Higgs and all his arrogant misguided ā we will get the new stadium ā bullshit was embarrassing and I didnāt believe it for a minute, in fact I had to leave the room because I thought Iād probably say something that would get me banned. When the Al Quaidis bought the club they should have bought it based on the research and sound financial backing with targets and realistic ambitious plans and not the word of a Numpty failure of a chairman which is what nick Higgs was.

I said earlier heās a massive fan, he really cares and the bloke is doing everthing possible to put things right. Give him the benefit of the doubt, he loves the club and I believe will be here long term with the right investment to take us forward. I will tell him heās stupid for doing this interview when I see him next because he canāt win and he can hardly say we are about to be sold if say an NDA has been signed in secrecy at the expense of another bidder can he? Simply should never have done this tonight but he tries to please people Ffs. I wasnāt going to bite but how the f**k is he a massive fan? Please stop the charade. Youāre not his best mate, and you know nothing more than any of us regular fans do. Itās become clear his family, possibly through no fault of his own, have no intention of taking the club forward. I hope they leave ASAP. Sorry Iām not allowing a Banned word speak to me like this and this is why I struggle with this forum. I have respect for the likes of MehewMagic and like reading his posts, he said earlier he seeās why the forum gets a bad name, people like you pal. I can take banter, some disagreeing with an opinion but I canāt accept person saying Iām acting a charade, Iām lier and I know nothing. Whilst saying all this behind a user name, thatās too easy. So we have a moderator on this forum, Gashead81. He will vouch I have been in Wael Al Qadiās box this season with my guest from one of the biggest global on line business in the world, did I not introduce you to him Steve? This guy says Iām not friends with Wael, I would say any man who rings or texts every day 2 weeks ago whilst I was in hospital is a good man and friend to see how I was. Iām not saying Wael and the board are perfect, better due dillegence on the UWE, yes. Better PR, yes but give the man the benefit of the doubt and letās see what happens in the next 6 months. I speak from the angle of meeting the man and he is a big fan now. I have invited Steve Gashead81 on my table for the 1883 awards night on the 10th April, if you are there Ross drop me a line and happy to meet you.

This has been on going for 6 months, the people I introduced own 2 football clubs in the world and are looking to invest in a club in the UK. Again if people are saying Iām acting a charade speak to the moderator on the forum who met them.

Im not not saying your lying about any of this but do you honestly believe Wael has the knowledge, financial backing or family backing to do any of the things he said he wanted to do when they bought the club ? Heās clearly a nice bloke with good intentions but that will only get you so far and Iām sorry but I just canāt see him doing anything going forward for our club anymore other than run more debt. Hope Iām wrong but Iāll be very surprised if I am. Nice bloke , rich family , who donāt like football and donāt want to spend their money on it. Thing is he could sell up and we could end up with worse. I actually prefer this lot to Higgs but then Higgs was awful I couldnāt stand him. Maybe one day weāll be bought by someone as nice and big a football fan as Wael and theyāll know what theyāre doing and have the money to do it.

Hope they took a nice walk up to the Dovecot. Dave for such a tosser which Wael is by everyone standards I donāt think a proper working class honest man like Darrell Clarke would meet up with him and be friends if he was an imposter Iāve never said heās a tosser, I just think heās living in a dream world. The stadium and training ground are as far away as theyāve ever been and weāve had three years of lip service. I hope he proves me wrong but the complete lack of any progress is galling. The believers point to the likes of Gorringe as a sign of progress. Frankly Rovers commercial activities prior the al-Qadi take over were so bad it hardly took a genius to see that. Iāve always said the proof is in the pudding, currently weāve been waiting on starters for 45 minutes and I want to get home for Match of the Day.
