Stupidly I've been feeling confident as of late. Right now there are so many teams between us and relegation we can feel a degree of safety because it's impossible we'd drop immediately into the relegation zone. However, 2 bad games would see us in the bottom 4 without doubt. I reckon we'll survive, but the way this is going, 50 points will not be enough to secure safety. I can see it easily being 55 Personally think even if we lost our next 3, we wouldn't go back into the relegation zone. 1 is our game in hand, so most the others would only play twice. Some are playing each other, some have only won 1 in about 6 games etc. Can't see that many going past us, that quickly. Although saying that, there have been some crazy results!!

Certainly is a crazy season. Since the turn of the century only 2 teams have been relegated from L1 with over 50 points - Us in 2001 & Torquay in 2005, both with 51 points. The way it’s going we might need 52/53 points - although teams playing each other in the run in will be the vital ingredient, our games v Bradford, Rochdale, Wombles & Plymuff are the ones for us - 8 points from these and anything else we get will be icing on the cake.

If GC keeps us up, do we want him to stay and build? Yes from me. Why wouldn't we?

You’d suspect Southend are bankers for the drop, on current form. They’ve won 3 matches since December 15th & the last of those was NYD! They have to play 5 of the sides in the relegation mix between now and the final day, where they host.....Sunderland. hmm, interesting. Maybe they might get some results against those lot, now they're on the precipice of the drop .......... otherwise they've had it ! Southend on a bad run but in Cox they have a man who will score. They need to wrap him up and save him for Saturdays. UTG!

I think Wycombe may well fall into it, they seem to be annoying every club they play with their antics, and I'm not sure having a manager who wants you to fall over with every challenge can give the team a great spirit. They are in it aren’t they as is every club 12th downwards? They do seem to have acquired a reputation for time wasting, gamesmanship and generally P****** off every club they play against. The funniest thing about it all is that against Sunderland and Shrewsbury their time wasting has led to about 8/9/10 minutes or so extra time and in those two matches they have lost points by conceding in that time, costing them 3 or 4 points. Go on their forum and even their own fans are mightily jarred off with their own tactics. UTH!

Next 4 games, could very easily blank, I don't think we will though - Dale, Wycombe, Southend and Bradford all in very poor form......There is talk of 54/55 points, I think 52 with the GD will be enough.

Looking at the remaining fixtures, these are the '6 pointers' where teams can really make up ground on rivals.
If the wombles keep up their form, the great escape is definitely on and if we can win our 4 games or take at least 10pts, we would surely be safe!

54-55 points required, and what worries me is if we falter over the next 3 games
Plymouth, Luton, Doncaster - as easily as we climbed the league last week, we can fall in the next.
I have been watching the Gas since 1966, and cant remember a relegation battle looking as tight as this season.
Remarkable.

Thanks for those fixtures Wimborne. When you see it like that you realise it’s all to play for. Still too early to call. Concentrate on the first match get something from it and move on. Istr that both Oxford ad Shrewsbury a few weeks ago got two wins on the spin yet are still on the mix and Argyle had a great January and Feb yet lose on Saturday and they will deep in the fight. No certainties, I’m just pleased we are on a good run and are high in the form table, but then so are AFCW. Time to keep our nerve. UTG!

Final game should be interesting. Imagine the final day of the season when any of the bottom 12 could be relegated. Please let us be safe before then.

I was hoping Barnsley would be guaranteed the championship or runners up spot by the time we played them, but they seem to have hit the buffers recently and could well now still need the 3 pts when we play them. So we need to get to at least 51/52 pts by that fixtue. It looks like we must beat Bradford & Rochdale at the Mem unless we can keep on picking up away wins. Surprised Southend haven't brought in another manager, as they seem in total free fall under Chris Powell.

I'm convinced Southend are going down. They are sleep walking their way to relegation. Teams like us and Plymouth have been down their all season so have got to grips with battling it. Southend have been top half for a lot of the season and now all of a sudden find themselves in this relegation battle. I can't see us going down but a bit worried with Lockyer missing on Saturday. Exactly. And others similar maybe. Having an ok start to the season and then tailing off is the worst scenario. Look at Southend, Walsall, Accy Stanley.

With so many teams playing for points to avoid the drop, it could be that 50 points could be enough, as at the moments points seem to be shared amongst 12 or so teams.
