The IRA are a bunch of murdering terrorist cowards, to say Coughlan would be in the slightest bit offended by insults flung their way by the yoots is a bit like saying that all Muslims relate to the Taliban/ Al-shabaab/ ISIS or any other murderous group of nutjobs affiliated with Islam.

In my complete innocence/ignorance - can somebody tell me what is this 'IRA song'? j Well I’m assuming it’s either: “No surrender, No surrender, No surrender to the IRA” sung to the tune of the hymn “Give me joy in my heart”, or: “When I was young, I had no sense, I bought a flute for fifty pence, The only song that I could play, Was “F**k the City and the IRA” Hope that helps

I was at an Irish wedding last summer in the South of France. Late into the evening the Irish started singing their songs. Most of which are fun and good natured until they started the rebel songs. When it got onto the " Black and Tans " (look up their history) I got up and walked off because I was offended yet I have no affiliation to any British military regiment. I think what I'm trying to say is that Coughlan probably does not agree with the actions of the IRA however may agree with what they are fighting for i.e a unified Ireland. I do agree with your sentiments about all terrorists.

Several embarrassing renditions of this today, it appears that GC has picked up on it as well. Why are you singing about an organisation that killed people, primarily in the island of Ireland, infront of our Irish manager? Knock it on the head next season. Agree absolutely. Hopefully next season, they`ll sing about William Wilberforce and Mary Seacole instead.

Would gladly take a few milkshakes and snowflakes to expose and highlight the rape and grooming gangs that he and not the bbc does. Just saying. Hanging round outside court jeprodising trials is hardly 'exposing' grooming gangs. The guy is lower than whale sh**.

I doubt they even know what the letters stand for, let alone the group itself. As has been stated though a football crowd is a representation of wider society. UTG

Jesus hark at the righteous few.......what is the problem with anti IRA songs, and celebrating someone opposed to an ideology totally alien to our western culture?
It could be far worse, heaven forbid that anyone start chants supporting our Communist loving opposition leader and his Marxist cronies!

Chant about Tommy Robinson today as well. Embarrassing. Yeah, I'd much rather they sang songs in homage to Jeremy Corbyn, and what a great PM he would make. You know, the Jeremy Corbyn who shakes the hand of IRA and Hammas, supports the prosecution of elderly ex-British soldiers and operates an anti-Semetic policy within his own party. Still, it's all done in the name of the Left Wing, and being right-on getsvthe approval of The Guardian and BBC. So it's all Ok, innit.

Surely the point being made is to avoid politics in football chants, not to replace one embarrassing chant with another.

It always amazes me the number of people who are apparently ready to sacrifice their culture, history and way of life just to be on message. The trouble is, people are fed this left wing propaganda sh1t from the moment they can walk, and have the ability to think for themselves 'educated out' to ensure they hold the correct views.

Well that didn't take long. Antonio has moved this thread to General Chat because there's too much general ignorance on show. Express an alternative view and you're accused of ignorance.
Kind of illustrates my comment regarding people being educated to think correctly, and if you express a view contrary to the left wing thought police you get shuffled off into obscurity.
Long live freedom of thought and speech. It won't last much longer.

Having less boneheads was one thing I was proud of Rovers for over City but looks like we're screwing that up as well.

And other people are free to criticise you for doing so. It's all good!

Long live freedom of thought and speech. It won't last much longer. You're a non-white parent living in Bristol. You decide to take the kids to their first football game and settle on a family ticket in the Wael Memorial Super Tent as Rovers is your local side. You generally have a good time but you hear that sh**e being chanted by a loud group of watered-up young men a stones throw from you. No one challenges this behaviour. You decide it's not worth the risk to your family's safety to come again. Simple question to you: do you think that's a good thing or a bad thing?

I made a little pun on General Knowledge General Ignorance, and you throw your toys out like a child being asked to tidy up his lego. All you have to do is post in a forum a few inches further down the screen. How is that an infringement on freedom of thought and speech? For someone who seems to pride themselves on correct thinking and and stoicism, you're certainly very fragile when it comes to people disagreeing with you, and exceedingly shaky on the logical processes. Seriously, an infringement on 'thought and speech', get a clue.
