I don't get all this nations have to apologise for past actions.
Bristol was the centre of the slave trade, a despicable and inhumane operation which should never have been allowed or tolerated and yet a few years ago they were making Bristolians today apologise for it. Are we proud of it? No. Have we learnt from it? Yes. Are Bristolians all racists because of it? That would be stupid to even think so. What do us Bristolians have to apologise today for then? Nothing, we were no part of it.
Nazism, communism and facistism in Germany, as a political party, thankfully is in the past with the rest of the unkind treatment countries have displayed to their fellow humans, and if the war veterans from back in the day can shake hands and move on, why do we have to consistently think to punish modern day Germany and their citizens for something they had nothing to do with during the events from 1939-45?
I expected better from Mr Jay.

I expected better from Mr Jay. Mr Jay should have seen my eight year old German son last night. He was leaping around the room before the start of the England game with his England shirt on (with Kane on the back). I didn't buy it, his Greek Granny did. German is his first language, with English being his second. My Father served on Destroyer's on the Arctic Convoys. My wife lost two Uncle's, on the same day. One in Eastern Europe and one in France. Time has moved on, unfortunately Mr Jay is stuck in the past.

Obscure unknown writer and self appointed historian for an obscure football club says something silly somewhere or other. Big news?

To put the record straight for our illustrious "historian", we and our allies didn't beat the Germans, we beat the Nazis. The German people were the first to suffer under Nazi rule. Thanks for pointing that out, a very important distinction. I have German ancestry and they put their lives at risk to protect a young Polish girl from the SS. Two young female relatives were captured and raped by those adorable Russians that Mike tells us nostalgically about. The grim and brutal reality is that there were victims on all sides and those victims did not ask for the situation they found themselves in.
