How did Tom Davies and our Goalkeeper perform

Definitely no Nichols this evening, good work out liked the look of Hoole who I thought looked very comfortable on the ball. Hopefully both him & Tomlinson will come through in the next couple of years. Smith worked hard with no real service. No idea who he was but the no.4 for Bath impressed me, big & strong won pretty much everything in the air & looked like he could play a bit as well. Was also impressed with what I’ve seen of Hoole albeit in little cameos. Tomlinson looks a a very exciting prospect imo, speed, good quick feet and is always looking to be positive with the ball. Can see him being a very good player and breaking into the first team in the next year or two.

I have no idea who most of these subs are! Jaakkola, Craig, Little, Kilgour, Upson, Ogogo, Leahy, Smith, Nichols should all be known. Just leaves Hoole and Tomlinson....both given pro-contracts after playing at academy/development level Jaakkola didn't play tonight

How did Tom Davies and our Goalkeeper perform Impressed with Davies looks comfortable on the ball & won most things in the air. Keeper made one very good save in 2nd half & looked pretty decent with the ball at his feet. On first viewing looks decent back up assuming that's what he is

How did Tom Davies and our Goalkeeper perform Both looked comfortable. Davies talks a lot and looks like a leader at the back, reads the game well and wins his fair share of headers. Looks to be lacking in the pace department which could be a worry alongside Craig. Better to see him in action against tougher opposition to really judge what type of player we have.

How did Tom Davies and our Goalkeeper perform Keeps did well shot stopping but didn't try to take any big kicks as far as I remember and when he tried didn't seem very competent at it. Only preseason fixture I'll go to so don't know if this is a new tactical approach anyway by GC.

Passing the ball much better and it's all going through Upson. Food for thought for GC. Did we look lacking in pace and/or creativity tonight? (As a lot on my Twitter saying we did) Definitely lacking in pace until we made the changes on 70 minutes or so. Little certainly injected that. That said, friendlies are never played at full pace. Massive lack of creativity. Bennett was lively in patches in the first half, playihg a bit of a roving role. Other than that, Ollie Clarke drove us forward and Rodman showed up quite well out wide. We used Sercombe in the deep lying midfield role that Lines played, but he looked very uncomfortable. If he plays, it should be further forward in my opinion. When Upson came on, he played that role very well. I was concerned by the fact that Bath got behind us 3 or 4 times, without being stand out quick themselves. Davies appeared to be the 'head it, kick it'centre half we were told he was, but he didn't look to be anywhere near as quick as Lockyer and indeed, would have been sent off for a professional foul in a proper game. It's only one friendly game (I've not seen the others), but if we are going to play wing backs, then on the evidence of this GC has some decisions to make in his 3 man centre midfield. I imagine he will go with Clarke (surely) and Ogogo (likely as he is a GC signing), but if so, he has a difficult choice to make between Sercombe and Upson. And that system leaves out Bennett and Rodman, the only players we have who are capable of going past a player. I wonder if he might be taking the DC approach of having players to fit different systems. I hope so, because different teams present different challenges that can be approached in different ways. We have the players to play 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3, etc. But do we have enough creativity in any of them? PS: Love Twerton Park. The memories!

All votes are off for player of the season! Little looks different class. 'Keeper lucky that both free kicks from just outside the area hit either upright. He was stranded on both occasions. Ollie Clarke has a new technique when in possession; horizontal arm across the face of tackler. Did it all night. Michael Kelly looking increasingly limited. Competent but will never be MoM. Deon Moore improving game by game. Beginning to look like the real deal. Their No 4 reminded me of Harry Pell. Very composed. I think Bath will miss Sean Rigg this season......now retired. Good attendance: 1,102.

‘We go with what we’ve got’ -GC in the Post match interview.
Doesn’t sound great for those still expecting multiple signings.

Pace and creativity obviously lacking but glad Benno still on the books.

‘We go with what we’ve got’ -GC in the Post match interview. Doesn’t sound great for those still expecting multiple signings. Very disappointing If true. Edit: He then goes to talk about the need for "one or two fresh faces" and "we're not finished on that department".

He did also add: “The group still needs a little bit of sharpness, a little bit of work, we maybe need one or two fresh faces. We are still not finished in that department either.” Though Rovers cut it from the interview on their website.

Edit: He then goes to talk about the need for "one or two fresh faces" and "we're not finished on that department". "We go with what we got" seemed to relate to wingers so I guess Sean Scannell (good player) will not be coming but KB (also a good player) will be staying. "One or two fresh faces" might include Liam Scales our manager is clearly a fan saying in the past he has "a bit of height" and "a bit of pace", the other fresh face might be AJ who is also rated by the manager, but such acquisitions would suggest a striker and central defender leaving or at least loaned out.

Indeed, from that clip it seems he meant that because the deals for the pacier acquisitions are the ones that have failed to complete we’ve had to go with what we’ve got in the games thus far. So there are some further arrivals being worked on and pace is the essential ingredient they must have. That, therefore, makes the pursuit of Jakubiak plain, as the one thing he’s not short of is speed.

I still think coughlan wants to move bennett and another player on to allow him to sign a couple of players he rates in positions further up the pitch.

If we have to go with what we have got then it's going to be a VERY long and turgid season. There's a reason why we weren't exciting to watch last season and that's because the creative players at the club aren't creative and have no pace. Thoroughly disappointed!

Bennett’s back and Nichols is scoring goals (against crap opposition), I hope GC doesn’t think that these 2 are like new signings? I totally agree with the above post, but there’s still time yet. 🙏
