Yesterday, the Aussies scored 364-4. The pitch is not that much different to yesterday.....and we are 87-5 !

Another pathetic collapse on the cards again. Same old same old. Embarrassing - especially when they were about 112-7 on day one? Could see us fold over the rest of the series now.

Buttler has got to go I’m afraid, another 2 failures. Great one day player but test cricket? He’s not even keeping wicket so just a spare part at the mo who’s batting sh**e! And he can take Denly with him.

And he can take Denly with him. Twice in this game the Aussies were under the cosh. At 124-7 (?) in the first innings and three early wickets down in the second, and both times they showed guts and resolve to haul themselves back up. This England team just doesn't have that I'm afraid. When they are down, they just collapse. We've seen it time and time again.

Unfortunate injury to Anderson, we may well have won this test if he didn’t get injured. 122- 8, I bet Jimmy would have finished them off and then we would have had a commanding 1st innings lead.

And he can take Denly with him. Unfortunately he would have to take Ali,Roy and Bairstow with him. Bairstow averages 16 in test cricket over the last 16 months and he is by test standards a poor keeper. Ali has lost confidence can't bat or ball at the moment and Roy does not have the mental strength for Test cricket, his longest first class innings is around 3.5 hours. We have to face facts we just ain't good enough.

The players letting us down will probably be replaced like for like as we seem to have a nation of one day specialists and no-one coming through with test match attributes? Ali is awful at the moment. Amazed he was picked for this game. It's like playing with ten men.

Maybe promote Bairstow to open? Last chance for him?

It’s not quite over yet, rain coming in 4 o’clock. Can we survive another hour? :doubt it:

Bairstow doesn't have the technique, his bath is away from his pad when he plays the ball and he has no idea where his off stump is. Agree with Butler better keeper,Joffra will play and Rashid needs to come in. The other problem is Root is not a test Captain he has little experience and it showed yesterday, no stopping singles to create pressure and Woakes only bowling 7 overs when not injured? All the Australian batters were allowed to ease themselves in in the afternoon as Root had no plan to create pressure. Rant over😁😁😁

I remember listening to Nassar Hussain, when he was talking about Steven Fleming being Captain of New Zealand. Fleming would quite often move fielders into really odd positions. Hussain was saying that as a batsman, when he saw this he actually started to question, "why". Had Fleming seen a flaw in his technique etc. Fleming was making the batsman think about something other than what he should be doing. It was creative Captaincy. Root's field placings are just so ordinary. With Woakes, it was the same during the World Cup. There were a few games where Woakes had the best England bowling figures, but after 50 overs he hadn't completed his ten overs ! It happened more than once.

Agreed It's going to be a long 6 weeks as we have to win 2 out of 4 and I can't see it as the Aussies don't usually let you back in. Unfortunately I have tickets for 2 days at Old Trafford so would like us to be all square by then ,haha
