What about the other 7,900 who have no interest and just go to watch some footy?
Don't you mean the other 39 900 who went Wembley ? Seriously though, in my lifetime I’ve seen Rovers status drop alarmingly and it hurts. When I started we were a “Championship” club with “Championship” standard facilities but since then the whole culture has changed so now we meekly accept the mediocrity we get. If all Gasheads want is a chance to watch football on a Saturday then maybe non-league is the place we deserve to be ? We were a championship club? With championship standards? Please enlighten me

I agree with this and this is the nub of the whole problem with our club and it's downward spiral. And yet it all started over what I still say was a non controversial question. But the point you raise Swissgas is the be all and end all of the whole thing. Some of these people cannot see what is staring them in the face. This club is showing no financial competence whatsoever. It's all around us. The latest being the new scoreboard being bought from a shithead. At the time of writing, we cannot get sufficient power to it to operate it. So why buy it? There are any number of items bought to help the groundsman in his work. We lay out money to find it is no good for our needs etc etc. We bought a training ground and proceeded to grow grass on it. DC felt shafted by the end, though he didn't help himself, and I've no doubt that GC saying he looks forward to seeing what the youth can do has probably got his fingers crossed. He worked a bloody miracle last season keeping us up, and as others have said I just hope he can do the same again this time. I'll certainly be supporting them home and away. As for those slagging off new players they haven't even seen play, they should be ashamed. How the f**k would I or 99.9% of the fans know the club has bought equipment for the groundsman that is not suitable? Again as I and others have said if things are so bad, what is the SC and the fans rep saying or doing about it and communicating it to those they claim to represent Spot on again Peter, we’ve got a bloke on here who to me it is obvious he wants Ken’s job or is a mouthpiece for Mr Fax and Pager who is scared to speak (Banned word) How is a new SC member know we don’t have enough power for the scoreboard and the groundsman has the wrong kit? Inside knowledge, he’s given his cards away, like you say Peter none of us fans would know this. AGAIN and I repeat AGAIN, he’s a fecking member of the SC, he should be demanding answer from his rep. Interesting, I’ve just been dropped a PM on here of someone I’ve never met before offering me a picture of Gasincider chatting to Hamer.

I am bemused at what we as ordinary loyal fans are meant to do, I deal in facts not innuendo ,supposition nods and winks. Whilst there may be evidence of financial incompetence believe you me it is definitely not worse than what I witnessed in 2 of our major Banks! I agree with the contributors that if matters are as bad as suggested then the folk who represent us are duty bound to let us know, that at the very least would allow to undertake decisive action, at the moment all we can do is sit on our hands until someone has the balls to come out and provide evidence based facts as to what is happening. Whistle blowing is common to most organisations,so please let's get it out on the table as the present situation is untenable.

The old guard SC Brotherhood seem to yearn for the glory days of the “nod and a wink” and “I know more than you” culture as they all pull together in one direction. But the WearefaithfulandtruetoWael brigade, who pretend they cannot see the shabbiness and gross financial incompetence, are all pulling together in exactly the same direction. Unfortunately for Bristol Rovers that direction is downwards. I agree with this and this is the nub of the whole problem with our club and it's downward spiral. And yet it all started over what I still say was a non controversial question. But the point you raise Swissgas is the be all and end all of the whole thing. If all Gasheads want is a chance to watch football on a Saturday then maybe non-league is the place we deserve to be ? I’ve kept out of this conversation up to now because I know very little about the in and outs of what is being argued about or the in-fighting of BRFC but that comment highlighted above has just left me wondering. I’m presuming you’re talking about the years 73-81 at Eastville or the years 1990-93 at Twerton. Although I thought you were probably younger than me and were referring to the Twerton years. Perhaps in the Eastville years we might have had Division 2 facilities, at a stretch of the imagination and perhaps if you were drunk when you thought it but we certainly didn’t at Twerton and as ever punched above our weight. I’m just a bit staggered that anyone thought that we’ve ever had “Championship facilities” anywhere or at any time. 😉 Swissgas I enjoy reading your posts about our financial position, actually enjoy isn’t the best word, but I respect the knowledge and sense you bring to the conversation. You manage to give a financial outlook without being insulting or rude to others who might have a different opinion. But like SSU I go to watch the football, support the team and lack the £ms to influence what owners do. To read your last comment is pretty insulting towards the thousands of gasheads who do go and support the team. I guess that could describe most fans of most EFL teams who will turn up on Saturday to watch their team. So as all I do is want to watch BRFC play football, on Saturdays and at other times, perhaps I should have been satisfied to watch it in 14/15 and remain in non league? I’m sure that’s not what you’re really saying, at least I hope it’s not!! UTG! ps I’ve just seen your later post referring to Championship facilities in the 50s up to 61. Even I wasn’t watching us then so I had presumed you meant our later visits, 74-81 or 90-93. Apologies, they certainly weren’t that good on the later occasions.

I really don't understand what all this fuss is about or where it's all headed, but I think I know what the answer is.
Can somebody please private message me with a name who I can contact at the club, someone who actually knows the truth and would also be happy sharing it?
I 100% won't divulge your name and also guarantee I won't tell anybody who I will be approaching. Thus the anonymity of the forum user and the contact within the club will be protected.
I'll search the said person out at our first home game and ask him - The state of our financial affairs. Why the TV isn't working. Why the groundsmen were bought the wrong equipment. The club's current relationship with the supporters club. Anything else that is relevant.
When I have all answers I'll come back on the forum and let everyone know whether we should be worried or not.
Then we'll have all the answers we need and in turn can all pull in the same direction - problem solved!
The truth is out there, and I look forward to ending this hearsay once and for all.

I don't mean to insult anyone warehamgas but the complacency of Gasheads makes me shudder. Anyone looking at the 2018 accounts would say that this business is going to run out of cash very soon. And before anyone comes back with "all football clubs rely on owners to keep bailing them out" please consider that our owners are bankers with a charge over our asset who are accumulating interest on their loan and have given no indication that their investment is anything other than secured lending and certainly not risk capital. If you were working at a business which was losing this amount of money and which had made no visible plans to instigate a turnaround would you really feel happy that your job was secure just because the owners were nice people ? People hark back to the days of Fred Ashmead selling Eastville and say what a fool he was but how was he meant to react if the business had run out of cash ? My posts on this subject may seem like a history lesson but certain principles never change. It is ironic that gasincider brought up the subject of power to the big screen because I am facing exactly the same issue now with one of the companies I am involved in. We are planning to install an electrical conveyor oven which will use an awful lot of power. It is not due in till December but we are making plans now with electrical contractors and our utility company all involved with the project. I am making sure this is happening well in advance because I cannot afford for that oven not to run in January and I am mindful that the people who will be employed on the line are relying on me providing them with the work. This is the reality of business and when you have come up the hard way you know it. We must be honest and realistic if we have Rovers best interests at heart. Our President has not come up the hard way. He has been handed his education and his wealth on a plate and, although it may be harsh to say it, this shows in the way he is running Rovers. The club is losing money at an alarming rate and there can only be one outcome if nothing changes. The football club will survive in some shape or form but I am afraid the days of 20 000 crowds and the magical atmosphere which bluebutterfly described yesterday on the Eastville topic will never return. It all seems such a waste to me when if Rovers fans were united and someone could get to Hani Al-Qadi we might be able to reach a solution which gives Rovers at least a chance of a brighter future.

A logical alternative could be that they are securing loans to the club before lending any money that is unsecured. Where is the money from that they are lending to Rovers ; is it their own money or loans from a 3rd party who could call-in the loans to DS?

But surely Wael had no direct involvement in installing the TV, that would be down to TG/whoever was contracted to do the work, although why we contracted a company owned by Pantsdown beggars belief. As far as Gasheads being complacent what do you realistically expect them to do, turn up a week Saturday with "ALQ's out" banners? Then what happens if they do decide to quit? Bolton have a far better fan base than we do but they were powerless to stop Kevin Anderson destroying the club, likewise we were powerless in the past to stop NH nearly taking the club into Admin and also out of the league. To be fair to WAQ he does seems to be changing the way the club is run/cut the losses, but then we have posters like SteveK demanding that we spend a fortune on new players this summer.

What an absolute horror of a thread.

I agree with you Swissgas the current losses are unsustainable and can only be stemmed by driving up Income, reducing costs or I would imagine we are doing both. I don't see further "loans" from whatever source as feasible as they will at some stage need to be repaid. I assume that TG has been brought in to drive up Income however,we won't know if he has been successfull until the next set of Acoounts. My concern is the figure quoted I think 95p in the pound that pays players wages,no business is sustainable with labour costs at that level. The issue for us fans is that the latest accounts are over 12 months old and we have no idea if our current cash flow is positive or negative. If still substantially negative I agree we have a significant problem.

You’d almost be forgiven for thinking that some actually want us to end up like a Bury, Bolton or worse. What an absolute horror of a thread. If debts aren't reduced what way do you think we're heading regardless of the comments on this thread? All sounds perfectly reasonable. Will cause meltdown with some though. I agree with you Swissgas the current losses are unsustainable and can only be stemmed by driving up Income, reducing costs or I would imagine we are doing both. I don't see further "loans" from whatever source as feasible as they will at some stage need to be repaid. If still substantially negative I agree we have a significant problem. Surely there's no reason losses will have reduced last season, particularly when we had to replace DC mid season and attendances would have reduced by around 500 fans per game plus there were no cup runs.

With respect to you Swissgas each to their own. One thing I can say after a lifetime of Electrical experience is that a large screen television is not going to need a fraction of the power required to drive an electrical industrial conveyer oven. Therefore the local electricity board will certainly not have to be involved and the size of cable required could easily be installed by any competent electrical contractor in a very short time. I for one will be astonished if the screen installed sometime ago is not yet connected to a power supply and will not be in use for our first home game.

It all seems such a waste to me when if Rovers fans were united and someone could get to Hani Al-Qadi we might be able to reach a solution which gives Rovers at least a chance of a brighter future. After writing off costs associated with the UWE Stadium project the trading losses are : 2016 £ 866,861 2017 £ 2,136,130 2018 £ 3,261,865 I can't see any problem with contracting work to a company owned by Steve Lansdown providing the deal was properly researched and found to be the most competitive. Competing companies trade with each other all the time. Tom Gorringe rightly takes plaudits for good work within his realm so he must also take flak when things go wrong but Wael has responsibility for the whole company. I am not suggesting protest I am suggesting dialogue with Hani Al-Qadi and facing up to the reality that he will not continue funding multi million pound losses indefinitely.
