The sound of pedestrians falling down a big hole maybe....? Totterdown Bridge Nope. This is something quite different! That is where Block one of (of Seven) flats are going. Interestingly the application was refused by BCC planning because it exceeds all the height guidelines for new blocks of flats in the city. However our elected representatives overruled it & it is being built. www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-news/decision-made-over-controversial-15-2997453Spoilsport that had legs for at least 10 pages.

Both rejected by planners from my memory (Sorry I did not know you were only referring to BCC planners as it does not say in your post) Siston Common was rejected by Kingswood Borough in 1990, Severnside didn't last much past artists drawings and initial discussions. Nothing formal was applied for to my knowledge. The two Mem plans (new stand and total redevelopment) were approved as was Sainsburys by BCC and UWE by South Glos. As I understand it, only one (genuine) plan has been rejected, that being Siston. My recollection of the Severnside debacle was to do with ICI wanting a new junction on the M49 to allow traffic to access their site, BCC wanted it closer to Avonmouth and managed to block the application. My father still lives down at Pilning, this is where I got the original info

I'd hate to think how much we've spent and wasted pursuing this dream over 30 years and nothing to show for it. It must be more than Bennett's wages 😉

The land was owned by Redrow who were willing to hand over the land for the stadium in exchange for housing instead of industrial planning which would have been more lucrative. Rovers and City had set up the company ready to pursue the scheme for a shared venture but that's as far as it got. There is a new junction going into the site now off the M49 which has now been developed with industrial units.

On a complete random note to settle an argument. Blokes at the pub think I’m imagining it, but I’m certain that the far right corner of the blackthorn end is better known as ‘moaners corner’?

TBH the Mem is not big enough to have a designated moaners area. However the Club are considering having a Non Moaners Corner.

All the best Phil I’m with Phil on this one , I’m sure it was something to do with a junction having to be built The problem with Severnside was that without a new junction on the M49 the land was not developable. That was only built relatively recently. Rovers clearly could not afford to pay for the junction and I remember the city council leader of the time, Graham Robertson, not having much sympathy as Rovers had in effect been offered land but couldn’t develop it. Robertson was a City fan. Not a problem we appear to have with the current leadership.

Does the page count go into 4 figures? Never mind that how about 5? Hopefully we'll only find out when the "New Stadium announced" thread starts.
