Not sure if some people commenting on this really know the area it's likely people would park in St George and St Anne's, Brislington etc and there are loads of industrial units with car parks in St Phillips empty on a sat or evening close by that would know doubt see the opportunity to make a few quid there is close proximity of the M32 junc 2 and 3 the train station and major bus routes it's like a ten minute walk from all the car parks in town. I really don't see a problem, certainly no worse than our current ground or trashton.
As for being land locked building up is the problem not out however there are sites next to the fruit market with cheap industrial units so expansion is possible no residential which is a major plus.
Personally I don't believe it will happen until ds buys the land we should just forget about it. I reckon it would take more than 2 years to get planning approval and another 3 to build so if it did were looking at what 2025?

One interesting quote I took away from that: "Following extensive industrial use, St Philip’s Marsh remains heavily contaminated in parts requiring remediation prior to new development." I'm not fully aware of the site history of the Fruit Market but I'm guessing a lot of work will be required before it is suitable for public use? Yes exactly my point earlier. I hope pre construction costs don’t restrict the actual build.

Can’t find much online regarding its history but found this quite interesting.
The solid geology of St Philip's Marsh comprises Triassic Redcliffe Sandstone in the east, and Triassic mudstone and halite-stone of the Mercia Mudstone Group to the west. The solid geology is overlain by Quaternary Tidal Flat Deposits of silt and clay,[1] which are in turn covered by deep deposits of made ground.

So did the Mem (redevelopment) once and the UWE, let's hope we see some actual plans soon now that Wael's gone public Great that we have the initial stadium design, but disappointed that there would appear to be a leak at Board level.

6. A unifying park and recreation zone that connects to Bristol’s infrastructure Raised above the existing rail yard a new park connects to the subterranean world of the causeway supporting sports recreation and play spaces that are easily accessible to the living and working inhabitants. So could this be the rail yard behind the fruit market? If so this would open up the land and link to the proposed stadium quite nicely.

Great that we have the initial stadium design, but disappointed that there would appear to be a leak at Board level. It could hardly be kept a secret given that the owners of all the units and land were sent a letter considering the proposal to sell to make way for a “sports complex”. Just confirming what was already in the public domain but that doesn’t suit the anti board agenda does it.

So could this be the rail yard behind the fruit market? If so this would open up the land and link to the proposed stadium quite nicely. A few more interesting points were: 1. "Bristol City Council has commissioned an official master plan which is due for delivery later in 2019." If BCC have been commissioned for an official master plan and we are seriously looking at the Fruit Market, it should be reasonable to suggest that we will be included on this when it is published in late 2019. The Fruit Market site could have been identified by BCC whilst drawing up the masterplan and passed on to us, if this is the case, it might make it easier for us to get PP. 2. In Hydrock's plans for the area, they envisage a "River Canal Spine" that goes through the middle of St Phillips Marsh and seems to intersect the fruit market land. A deal with Hydrock could see a potential partner brought on board to enable such a development to happen on the east side of the site whilst making the acquisition of the land a little easier. Looking at their website, they have already been involved in a number of impressive projects in Bristol and the South West already so they could even assist with the design of the stadium, though that could be outside their area of expertise.

Is this area still part of a regional development area and is not subject to normal planning laws

It has not stopped Sunday markets is that not public use ? Also a bit worrying most of Bristol's fruit & veg has come from that site for 30 years but it's now too contaminated to build a football ground land on it! At worse I'd have thought the only area needing to be decontaminated is where the pitch will be situated and they can take all the time the stadium being built to do that.

It's more likely that any contamination is above ground like asbestos roof panels or something like that. As you say, a Sunday market and a fruit market must mean it cant exactly be Chernobyl!
