The AQs aren't the usual local megalomaniac football club owners, they're bankers ffs and do things much differently to people like Higgs. My fingers are crossed that they get this one across the finishing line just to shut up the "how's it being funded" fixed mind set.

Wael responded to a follow up question from Twentyman on how the search for a new site was going since their last conversation in March of this year. Anybody with any sense is not going to hold a press conference until they have established they can get planning permission and purchased the site. Wael said they had found a preferred site, initial talks with the council were very encouraging and we are in the process of drawing up a planning application and if successful the purchase would go ahead. Quite simple to understand as far as I am concerned. What i find difficult to understand is why at this point would he announce it ? why not wait until the project was more established ? We will soon find out if Wael is buying time or not, how much time does it take to draw up planning permission document? Surely if a team of people are working on the application it will complete by end of the month. Sort of cant hide from what has been said now, if no paperwork is submitted then we can ask why not?

I think most of us haven’t run a pro football club or indeed have the business acumen to do so. I personally think WAQ is a good guy, I don’t know him or have any interaction with anyone in the know but this constant barrage of negative comments would make anyone think twice about digging deep financially. I shall keep my rose tinted spectacles on and say that this time I have a feeling that whoever is behind this proposal, WAQ et al will get this done and give our club a sustainable future with due diligence being applied to the new stadium and our future stability. Heaven help us that we end up like a list of clubs that are in the mire due to financial mismanagement. UTG If you dont mind me asking, where did you get your lobotomy done? Looks great. Thanks!...coupled with my rose coloured spectacles I’m a fashion icon!!

No he didn’t. Nor did he say that there wouldn’t be any. No-one knows, which is why we’ve reached 24 pages of ill-informed speculation 😀 i would to think its discussion which is what football forums are all about, or have i got wrong as well Never said you’d got anything wrong Henbury! Speculation in the absence of solid information, is all we’re left with.

I do wonder why he said it when he did ?

Once again, I just feel something is not quite right. Normally when a business has good news, they announce it to the world. This latest news was just 'mentioned' on a rarely listened to early Saturday afternoon radio show. But I don't think there is anything to announce. No land has been purchased, no plans have been submitted and no permission has been granted. Wael was simply responding to a question, and giving an update on where we are with the one thing all we gasheads obsess about.

I can’t believe people think he’s trying to buy time when as others have said, it’s in the public domain now we have submitted information to the council.
Is he really going to pay an architect, planning offices and all that to buy time while we’ve just lost £3.4 million?
Like someone else has said to me, if the site gets planning for a ground then it opens us up to any investor from China or somewhere who wants a football club with a new ground in the UK’s 6th or 7th bigger City.
Again speaking to a VIlla ST up here in Oxford, he said if any of the Birmingham clubs played us in this new ground next to the station, they would bring down 5,000 on the train!

You don’t need to purchase the land to get planning, Wael i think is a lot further down the line on this, the purchase of the land won’t be an issue, the council are on side, the Mem land is really wanted as well.

Unbelievable really is it not. WAQ is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. This is positive news, early days but positive, be happy and cross ya toes folks.

I was told about this latest development over a month ago and discussions had been going on with the council for many months before that so the whole 'project' is quite advanced and presumably talks with the council have gone well enough for WAQ to go public. Hopefully this new candid attitude is a sign of things to come with more regular meaningful updates provided to the fans.

Regarding parking - look at the Ricoh. £10 on site as you have to spend money in the retail park next door to justify time in their car park, train station that pretty much has no trains and no parking in local residential areas. I parked for £5 via the Ricohs website. The car park- one of a few - was a few spaces within the grounds of an amateur football club. I'd assume that other local businesses had 'watertight' (ahem) deals with the ricoh to supply parking. Businesses in fruit bowl area could do similar

It's literally got no viewers.

Just want to add my positive vibes and say this has made me very excited. The Transport links will be brilliant for most home and away fans. In WAQ i trust.
I think the reason we've heard about this before seeing plans and applications is due to too many leaks once planners/planning consultancy's start to get involved. Lets get behind WAQ and the club!

If he’s willing to go public, then I’d be amazed if there isn’t already a deal signed to purchase the site, subject to the granting of planning permission. A site for residential use in BS7, will be highly sought after and there is already the precedent of a planning permission for a different use, if an alternative ground is available.

Am i right in saying there is a convent on the Mem saying we cannot be made homeless ?

Probably in an attempt to placate the moaning old Minnie's on here who say they are never told anything and when he does, continually criticise everything he has just said. You only have to look at this thread to see how he clearly is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't!
