Probably meaningless but interesting all the same. No mention of him being taken out to lunch by Henbury to keep the Westbury on Trym flasher rumours quiet though.

But I don't think there is anything to announce. No land has been purchased, no plans have been submitted and no permission has been granted. Wael was simply responding to a question, and giving an update on where we are with the one thing all we gasheads obsess about. You don’t need to purchase the land to get planning, Wael i think is a lot further down the line on this, the purchase of the land won’t be an issue, the council are on side, the Mem land is really wanted as well. That was the impression I got from the interview and him saying he would like to get it done in two years now that a year had already passed on his original three year deadline. Me thinks that the planning application is a lot farther on than we think it maybe.

If he’s willing to go public, then I’d be amazed if there isn’t already a deal signed to purchase the site, subject to the granting of planning permission. A site for residential use in BS7, will be highly sought after and there is already the precedent of a planning permission for a different use, if an alternative ground is available. Am i right in saying there is a convent on the Mem saying we cannot be made homeless ? So you’re saying that we’re going to be saved by a mass protest of nuns Henbury? 😀 Sorry, couldn’t resist it. Apparently that was a part of the takeover deal. No idea if that’s correct or not though.

More likely as AF said for Filton, however I remember people discussing a construction company as the take over - so was just picking out parts that stood out to me

As YTL had a commercial interest in the outcome (they were proposing an arena in the old Brabazon hangers), then accepting gifts from YTL appears, at best, to be naive.

How are they financing it? The mind boggles on that one but fair enough. Can they really build it in two years?! That’s a hell of a schedule to aim for. No, it's pretty much impossible for a stadium to be ready there in 2 years. Hopeful though that it might get done, but will certainly be longer than 2 years.

Yeah, I reckon three years to start it is a reasonable time. At least if they actually start it, then it's likely to get finished.

Why are you making this personal? He didn't say anything about "he" found a site. It's impressive how Wael can still get bashed for this announcement. Oh come on you weren't born yesterday. I don't know the truth but you surely must know from general life experiences that sometimes people do mention something that someone else is planning / wanting, in order to get ahead of the game, own the idea or disrupt the other party. Not saying he has, but we need an open mind as to the possibility. Will come out in the wash.

Not sure why we can't just give people the respect to wait until it does actually come out in the wash, before accusing them of all sorts of potentially imaginary stuff, though.
