What about the redeveloped Ashton Gate or redeveloped Hawthorns or anywhere else. Why’s it not a problem for other clubs to redevelop their urban based sites but it would be for us? Going to football is as much about the experience of the day not just the match and that in itself drives attendances. For me Gloucester Rd is part of the fun as it is for most of the people I go with. If we played in a bowl in the middle of Filton airfield the match day experience would be a lot diminished for lots of people. I don’t go to football to drink inflated price beer out of plastic glasses on a concrete concourse or to have to drive to it and spend an hour getting off the car park afterwards! That’s all well and good but I don’t think we can expect our owners to fork out millions on a fancy stadium redevelopment and the fans not play a part by diverting one of the potential income streams elsewhere. Our future doesn’t look bright if we can’t find a new site and Mem development is also then deemed not financially viable. Loads of other clubs owners have done it and redeveloped their urban home but we can’t expect whoever owns us to do the same, is that what you are saying?

Do you know this to be true, or is it a rumour? I haven't heard anything about the talks breaking down after 5 minutes. The talks didn't break down between planners, Conygar and any other interested parties, it was just that we didn't remain at them. Once it was obvious we wouldn't have the finance to take an active part we were off This was my post on the 11th August "Sounds like Hussain has had to break the bad news to Wael that he's got two Hopes of raising the finance for the Fruit Bat Arena and one of those is Bob Hope" All these assumptions by you. You are obviously itk. Or I would suggest claiming to be so, by reading between the lines.

Strange that Marvin wants the fruit market to go ahead was it not him that move the arena out of town to filton ? He would have had to fund the Arena that's not the case with the FM? Although there's no real signs of YTL funding, anything as it seems little progress is being made in turning the hanger into an Arena.

Has it occured to many people that this may be a positive move by the new owner to take control of the situation to determine where Rovers future really lays? Maybe he has leaked this news to put a cat among the pigeons and give him a stronger negotiating stance with Congyar and Brsitol City Council? Perhaps the club have truly decided that there is no future in the negotations and will pull the plug . If that is the case then surely that suggests a more pro-active stance from the club than the laid back mentality which has plagued us for so long. Perhaps those people who are saying " typical Rovers " have got it completely wrong!!

I think a lot of the problem with our ground is access to it. Would it get the safety certificate if we had 20000 people going through three narrow entrances. The only way it could be practically viable would be if rovers bought about 20 terrace houses. And that would obviously be cost prohibitive. That's before you even consider any locals objections. We need to make the best of the mem in the short term but long term has to be a new ground. Sure wherever we end up that will be one a good day out. There is meant to be a train station being built at the YTL arena. Access should be ok to the site. if we can't make either the UWE or FM work financially then how are we going to do any better with YTL? I'd have though screwing UWE down to a good deal would be far easier than getting one with YTL. Perhaps it's all a clever ploy by the new owners to try and get a better deal from CI but we probably thought the same when we heard rumours the UWE deal was close to collapsing. You're probably right. In today's money a UWE stadium would be close to 100M to build. Anyone is going to want return on any investment. Who are we going to find who will finance that. Whoever stumps up will want a sizeable chuck of any of our operating revenue. Who knows it could put us in a financial position worse than being at the mem.

Could be a negotiation ploy, could be to soften us up for bad news.

Strange that Marvin wants the fruit market to go ahead was it not him that move the arena out of town to filton ? I'm not sure he necessarily wanted out at filton but I think so much money had already been spent on it and it was going to cost 100 million to build. Building it at filton meant no cost to the council. Having said that they spent a similar amount on the beacon for far less of an outcome.

Perhaps those people who are saying " typical Rovers " have got it completely wrong!! Because this is Bristol rovers were talking about here. We have to find out every bit of bad news via the Bristol post first then the club puts out an awful covering statement with as scant detail as possible about the latest fu*k up. I'd be willing to put my house on it that the deal is dead and wel get a 3 paragraph statement soon saying we're actively looking at other sites. Wel then get news of another scheme won't hear anything for 3 - 4 years then the Bristol post will report the latest shceme is dead. It's what we do. Oh hang on I forgot wel post a video about it first which will give the social media team something to do for a week or so.

Home shirts out literally just before the season starts, Away shirt out after the season starts. South/South West stand planning permission debacle. I have a season ticket in the SW stand and been compensated £10 to stand somewhere else. Some people I know still haven't received their season ticket. JCH disaster and now the Fruit Market is dead in the water after realeasing a teaser video earlier in the year.

Kept in the dark and fed on sh**e is about right!

Prefer we move on from the pipe dream and see the Mem get a few quid spent on it, and redeveloped in a piecemeal fashion to be fair

So much for this line below from Gorringe in his Gascast interview about any possible future Mem redevelopment. If we didn't know them so well anyone would think they're making it up as they go along and saying whatever will keeps the fans placated at the time. 🤔 Gorringe on Mem redevelopment :
