Spent 10 mins of my lunchtime looking at google maps aerial view of the Mem and surrounding roads. If we are seriously thinking of a 18-20K ground there, we know space isnt the problem. The problem is the surrounding houses, for impact and planning but also entrance and egress of twice as many supporters. Plus any non-match day events. Widening the access for one of the two roads behind the north stand would probably be needed. Meaning needing to but at least a couple of houses. There is no easy way to link the East/south to Muller Rd and re-opening the Alton Rd exit is probably an non-starter. Think this is why it will continue to be a non-starter. Unless we are happy with a 12-15K all seater with better facilities and losing money until we make the Prem! Sensible assessment - add on the problems with time restrictions blocking us from using any facilities we were to improve as well. Never going to be self sufficient. When the Al Qadis took over (for £1 don’t forget!) we were all but in administration. Now we are effectively in control of our destiny with a decent training ground and probably the best squad for 20 years. We are looking for a new ground and permission for a temporary stand till we find it. We aren’t wanted at The Mem by surrounding households and BCC aren’t exactly helping. However, we are still in existence and looking up (I hope!). I think the glass is half full after 62 years of hoping. I won’t believe a new stadium till I sit in it (which may never happen for me) but I’ll carry on hoping and supporting rather than moaning (I’m happier that way, says the wife!).

Just because the neighbours kick off doesn’t mean we can’t develop the Mem site.
We’ve had countless applications approved over the years including a few full redevelopments.

The thing to me is that whilst the article that started this madness might have picked up on tone of negotiations it doesn't really say anything.
To play devil's advocate until this or another stadium is signed and delivered it would be madness for rovers to not continuously review options.
Let's say conygar were caught in a scandal all projects were frozen. The same doomers would be slating the governance for putting all eggs in one basket and not having a plan B.
The article itself is journalistically poor. Normally you would indicate whether you have approached the club for comment on such gossip. This is not included. Perhaps they might have contacted the developers. This isn't to dismiss the context completely but post should have better standards than this.

In addition to the poor standard of journalism, spelling and grammar are also very poor. It's become a joke of a Newspaper, as have all regional rags owned by Reach PLC. Not fit to wipe ones backside with.

Paid off all directors debts, which was a lot more than a quid.

If not true though, the silence from the club is deafening..

It is funny all the people happy JB was refusing to speak to them cos it was a terrible rag that just gets in stories from here, now believe every word printed on the FM story 48 hours is more than enough time to put out a simple statement refuting the claims and clarifying the latest and therefore quashing any noise and speculation to ease any concerns supporters might have regarding the new stadium, which is obviously of vital importance, as Wael says: "If we want to succeed, a new stadium has to happen." I know we have always been treated like mushrooms, kept in the dark and fed on sh**e, but the silence is deafening from the football club so we can only presume the article is accurate and the likely BS bait line about "tentative talks" with YTL Corporation is to keep the gullible pacified for another 6 or 7 years of likely inactivity and disappointment.

I would actually like to see that last Redevelopment plan submitted again but possibly with alternatives to the student accommodation. They would need to update a lot of the additional paperwork but they must have the original plans and they could even go for solar panels on the stand roofs with battery storage. It would be a real test of how much they appreciate the asset of community value.

Wow. So don't believe this one positive line. But believe the rest of the article 100%... illuminating perspective.

Might start an owner wishlist thread...
"This american multi billionaire caught the eye recently, one to watch" "I posted 18 youtube clips on one post about this UAE based businessman 12 years ago, and look, he's just invested £300bn in Morecombe"
(yes I am bored of no football to discuss)

I just wonder how James Piercy came by this information and why, having written this seemingly informed article, he doesn't seem to have approached the club for comment.

Where do you think the "tentative talks" with YTL Corporation info came from? 🤔

Where do you think the "tentative talks" with YTL Corporation info came from? 🤔 Well I did consider the link with YTL but wasn't sure what the motive would be for spilling the beans unless he prefers an alternative plan for the Fruit Market.
