There’s always going to be pros and cons with both out of town stadiums and ones in the city centre.
You have to make the most of wherever it is. So if it’s going to be a short walk from the main train station make sure it’s utilised correctly. Maybe the club can do some sort of deal with the train companies for cheaper train fares with a match ticket etc? It would be ideal to extend the lines to the likes of Portishead which has been discussed for decades (but will probably never happen!)
I was driving past Swansea’s stadium at 2pm on Saturday. You would just about classify it as an out of town stadium. Whilst the traffic wasn’t too bad, there are only a few car parks so still requires a lot of street parking, no nearby places to drink and the train station is too far to walk from.

After sitting on this for a couple of days, yes, it is potentially very exciting. Hopefully the type of site the stadium will be on would lead to something similar to Rotherham and Brentford's new ground, interesting and not uniform. However, as always I'm reticent about this actually happening. The club tie wears heavy, we've decades of proposed designs, sites and broken promises. Fair enough, we've been given a little bit of information, that's a start, but like many until we start building I won't truly believe. I cannot get excited about this either. Been a Rovers fan for nearly 50 years, so I'm sure people can understand my reluctance to jump up and down. It's just yet another stadium story as far as I'm concerned.

Why is it strange timing? Seems like Wael is damned if he says nothing and damned if he does say something! Whatever happens people will whine. No stadium news: whine Some stadium news: whine Spending on the team: whine Not spending on the team: whine No new facilities at the Mem: whine New facilities at the Mem: whine Not signing anyone: whine New signing: whine No communication from the club: whine Communication from the club: whine The only reason I'm looking forward to getting a new stadium, is reading on here all the things that are wrong with it. - absolutely spot on!

Would have been more space if I shifted everything slightly to the right, but you can see it's pretty tight. I'm sure an architect would do 10000000000x better though Not sure it's gonna be that tight. Istm you've practically built Old Trafford (excuse the awful graphics)

That changes everything regarding the location. For some of these plans to come to fruition, access routes would be improved. Wow is all I can say, if we are formed as part of these plans, the area becomes fantastic. Without it im happy with it, this site will be incredible. I agree that this area is likely to get a massive upgrade in the near future, although on a side note you would have to say that the writer of that document writes like a w**ker of the highest order. I mean who doesn't love 'permeating the urban fabric' or relaxing by an 'activated canal'. I sense that we should just stop for a moment and celebrate the River Avon's tidal shifts. It just makes me feel so multi-functional and vibrant. Maybe after that we could pop over the Active Link for a quiet moment of reflection in the Unifying Park. Oh, and the fact that they freely admit that they just made it all up as well. There's that too.

Istm you've practically built Old Trafford (excuse the awful graphics) Definitely didn't build something that big. You can work it out by how wide each seat is & how many rows there are. Not sure it's quite up to scale either. The longest part of fruit market in the middle is 176m (north to south). Old Trafford north to south is 205m and about 250m wide. I doubt GD would have thought the market is too small, if it could fit Old Trafford in... But of course, I may have made the stadium size too large in terms of facilities, however the plan was to have shops, bars, restaurants etc along the bottom, so that really would have been the max use of space

So......................... Are we allowed to talk about this now? Or still a subject to avoid just in case we breach any gentleman's agreements made not to talk about it?
Seriously though, it would not be my idea of a an ideal location personally.
I have always felt as though we were more anchored in the north of the city and thus I find it frustrating that what with all of the development happening around Filton airport and the surrounding areas there is apparently nowhere suitable for us to explore seriously.
Having said that, we have to trust that Wael and co have explored that area extensively and concluded that the Fruit Market is a far more viable site for us.

Just wondering if the Lord Mayors decision to pull the plug on the temple meads arena site was on the knowledge that there was a possibility of a 20000 seat stadium being built less than a mile away.

Who gives a f**k what they think, especially if they can't place things in context. But just for you, this is me stating categorically that I think we will build the biggest stadium in the world on the Fruit Market within 2 months and it will look like this:

Regarding parking, sorry if it's been mentioned before, but surely the logical solution would be to use the Brislington A4 park and ride, get the bus to the Thunderbolt and walk across the bridge to the site? 10 minutes on the bus, 10 minute walk. Easy enough for extra busses to be added for games, they manage it all easily and efficiently for the Bristol 10k/half marathon.

After the entire UWE episode & the uncalled for and frankly disgraceful abuse WAQ received over it, I’m astounded that people think he would come out with a statement such as this just for popularity points. That much is just ridiculous. If anything I’d wager the entire plan is a lot further along, than he is initially letting on. Mmm... I don't know how you would settle such a wager. If anything I would suggest Wael has gone off-piste under a little bit of pushing from Twentyman. Dwane Sports must be looking at some potential sites. This is almost most certain, or probable, or possibly just wishful thinking. I think Wael just decided on a whim that Fruit Market was the 'best one' to share. This would then placate supporters who have heard nothing at all year regarding a potential new site. IMHO far more likely that in 6-9 months we will hear that the project isn't viable. A bit like the pretend redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium. Even Wael's most ardent supporters would have to accept that that was a piece of pure fiction. For me - it just buys Dwane Sports some more breathing space. Believe it if you want to, I don't have a problem with that. But I don't. Why would they need more "Breathing Space" ?

Just like to point out, that clubs like Eintracht Frankfurt have their main car park for match days under the pitch/stadium ! The Germans like to build bunkers underground. It really is the best way to optimize space.

When and if they build Henbury Station as part of the Loop Line, they plan to put a "Massive" park and ride next to it (bottom of Cribbs causeway) , so a short train ride to Temple meads, Job done !

Henbury - Why whenever you mention this do I read it as the 'Henbury Hoop' line? Will it be a sort of day trip destination for Doggers?
