Its interesting observing the updates that pompey put on youtube as regards to the updating and improving fratton park. If only to see how the west stand at the Mem could become an all seated stand. A new stadium is the best option but there needs to be a date upon which a line is drawn in the sand. At that point the club has to then focus on adapting the Mem to the current century. What the point in Wael drawing a line, when it's clear he has absolutely no intention of developing the Mem? Rovers must be the only club who doesn't give fans updates, Peterborough, Swindon, Oxford and Gillingham have all recently updated their fans on their own intentions, at Rovers all we get his snippets of information from Sam Frost, and it's anybody's guess if it's correct or total nonsense just to try and keep us happy. Why not ask Lansdown.

Thought this was interesting. Half way through shows York’s new ground.
Massive mix of leisure, library, health, bowling, cinema facilities all around the stadium itself. Can imagine the fruit bowl being a scaled up version of this.
This is why we won’t redevelop the Mem. You couldn’t fit all this in to the Mem site

Got recommended this one too. Not sure if the pool at the end is for players or for wider usage but impressive what’s being done in Portsmouth

Recall going to Fratton Park in the late 50's with BRSC and the game was called off just before K.O.due to a waterlogged pitch. We went to the Dell not long afterwards and won at Southampton when Bobby Jones career was in its infancy and Howard Radford saved a pen so the South coast has mixed memories.

I think Bristol Rovers as a whole ,from owner down to fanbase need to draw a line in the future. Its become unhealthy ,the new stadium obsession / dream / excuse. Maybe when Bath rugby have finished their new 18,000 stadium rovers could enquire about renting for 2 seasons ?

I don't think of it as an obsession but more a positive vision for the future of the club. Like it or not, football is a business and to be successful there needs to be investment, planning and some brave decisions. Wael is the best opportunity we have had for many years to make this vision a reality and I for one won't give up on it. The fruit market is a viable project and we have a sellable asset in the Mem. Glass half full.

"best opportunity for years"
Not sure we can get much closer than the UWE when all we needed was Sainsbury's to hand over the money, given that we'd already secured pp on the Mem and the stadium and finance was already in place, some were told.
Even if Wael decides to proceed with a stadium at the FM pp for the stadium (and the rest of the proposed development?) will have to be obtained and also, potentially, pp for whatever is planned at the Mem.

Agreed Topper, was looking like a plan but Sainsbury's didn't hand over the money so the deal was dead. I'd like to think plannning permission for the FM wont be a major obstacle judging by the local council support in developing the area from Temple Meads toward St Philips Marsh and the lack of residents who might object. I also haven't seen any great crested newts, so fingers crossed!

Aren't the people who own any businesses locally considered "residents", given the issues we've had getting pp in the past I can't see some group not being formed to object to any plans.

I doubt if many would object. Most would see it as an opportuinty to use their business premises for match day parking. Access would be an issue but no worse than getting up Muller Road on a Saturday. A lack of decent pubs would be made up by our massive fanzone with profits going to the club.

I reckon it’s a covert Natural England hit squad that dumps a load of them out of the back of a van when nobody’s looking. 😉

News this week; Conygar Investment Co. said Thursday that it is i nvestigating raising debt finance of up to an initial 25 million pounds ($30.4 million) for potential investments. The property investment and development group said the debt could be used to further development of The Island Quarter site in Nottingham, England. Several forms of debt are being considering, including a zero dividend preference share, an interest-bearing loan or a term debt facility. Shares in the company at 1402 GMT were down 1.00 pence, or 0.7%, at 145 pence.
...... or perhaps it could be used to help develop the FM site? The non-binding exclusivity agreement they have with the Wholesale Fruit Centre ends 5th July so we should get news either way.

What's Wael had to say ? deathly silence. Probably not much he can say until the 5th July. There could be confidentiality agreements in place for all we know. No doubt he is currently focused on backing JB to create another promotion winning squad

The whole development is going ahead Bristol uni have just had planning premisson granted for temple quarter, its a massive regeneration project of the whole feeder road area.
IF rovers are involved with the delevopment of a stadium at the FM site then us fans will be the last to know I'm afraid too much money on the table and way too many lawyers involved these contracts will be watertight and I'm not talking higgs watertight I mean nuclear submarine watertight, no comments or leaks to the media/fans untill the ink is dry.
Planning permission shouldn't be an issue because its not like we need to knock down any historical importance or some trees that some green councillor will demand we all hug, its an industrial site with good access, which of course a contribution will be made to help the local council improve it even more (whether the council actually uses it for that purpose is another story) 😜
It won't affect local businesses or cause issues with noise etc.
