Wael himself said right at the beginning a new ground was of paramount importance to the club so it’s not unreasonable 6 years later to question what’s going on or more fittingly why nothing seems to be going on . Seems to me that some fans will forever accept nothing happening on the stadium front and will just be happy to have a club to rock up to every other week . Happy to plod along because it’s just the Rovers way . I'm happy to 'rock up' to Rovers. You got another plan involving plenty of your own money? No? Surprise surprise. That’s why I didn’t buy a football club that desperately needs a new ground as I can’t finance one 🙄

Oh, the Fruit Market stadium pipe-dream! You’ve had the same one, where we evoke gasometer aesthetics for the principle structure. Spooky! 😉

How many of those 50 years has WAQ been in sole control? What’s gone before cannot influence attitudes towards him surely? I’d be desperately sad to see WAQ walk away but given the attitude of a small portion of the fanbase I would find it hard to criticise him if he just sold up, in fact some of our fans would deserve a Bury type owner and that would give them something to really moan about! It is Bristol Rovers I follow and a new ground is needed. It is not a complaint against him but one would expect us to be closer than we are. We saw plans for a redeveloped Mem. We saw plans for a UWE. We were told we were close on other locations like Severside. We have not seen anything for ages. We left Eastville in 1986. We were fortunate to become sole owners of the Mem. If we want to bounce between L1 and L2 ten lets stay at the Mem, but financially it will be a struggle. I think we deserve to know what the future holds. Wael wasn’t involved in the plans for any of those but I appreciate the history of these failed ventures is a huge frustration to all us supporters. You won’t find any fan that doesn’t want a new stadium or redeveloped Mem and Wael will be as desperate as us to secure a new home, not just so we’ve got something nice and shiny to sit in but to stop these continuing losses which he has to support and allow us to progress as a football club. We would all love a running commentary of what discussions or projects are being worked on behind the scenes but that isn’t realistic, especially if we are part of a far bigger development project with other parties involved. We didn’t get a running commentary when the deal with UWE was being cooked up, as I recall nobody knew a thing until the artists impressions were plastered all over the Evening Post. Perhaps Wael overstepped the mark when he first admitted involvement with the Fruit Market and was told to keep quiet until all involved were ready to go public. Unless there is someone among us fans with hundreds of millions to invest and is willing to spend it on a stadium we have no choice but to be patient and support Wael not try and drive him away. Does anyone seriously think he doesn’t want to get the ground issue resolved, he’s shown himself to be a fan like the rest of us and he’s got the added incentive of protecting his (and his families) finances. Like I’ve said the constant sniping and negativity towards Wael is unnecessary and unhelpful.

I’m happy to watch us also baggins but tbh that’s avoiding the issue. Yatton is spot on imo, surely it’s not unreasonable to question what’s happening (or not). Given that Wael ‘bought’ us you can’t really say to fans ‘have you got a plan involving our own money’. Of course we haven’t but we didn’t buy us, Wael did. I would have thought he might have had plans given that he bought us. UTG!

He’s probably guilty of being naive, perhaps thinking renegotiating a rubbish deal with UWE would be straightforward or that finding another site would be a formality. Even if that’s true it doesn’t change where we are now and I’m still confident he has every intention of trying to find us a new home. He doesn’t really have a choice as there is no billionaire gashead ready to just walk in and fix everything overnight as some seem to think.

We need a new stadium but the club can’t pull a stadium out of a hat. It takes time and a certain degree of stars aligning. The Mem is bad, embarrassing indeed, but it isn’t that bad. Go to the away end at the County Ground or at the old Bootham Crescent away end for York (I know it’s gone now but still) and you’ll be in fear of picking up tetanus from touching anything - especially at the toilets. Incessantly moaning about it isn’t going to speed up a renovation at the Mem or new stadium. The club know they need to do something about it. They can’t afford complacency in any meaning of the word. But how do you know the club are actually trying to do anything, each time somebody raises the issue they just get shouted down, then another 6 months possess before it's raised again. Meanwhile available land/sites in Bristol slowly disappears. But in the same breath, how do we know they are not? Just because it isn’t in the public domain doesn’t mean nothing is happening and the people raising the questions, are they directly involved or have a given right to know or are they an average supporter who has no legal right to be informed? Yes it’s of interest but unless we have a direct and personal involvement, we have no right above anyone else to be given information until it’s in the public domain and that will happen when everything is 100% confirmed…. They have been burned too many times before with people leaking info before it’s ready to be released etc

Exactly. We all want a new or revamped stadium but in the meantime just have to accept where we are and get on with it. We are lucky to have an owner we can trust and who genuinely cares about the club, I personally believe he is doing everything he can and a viable stadium/site can’t just be rustled up overnight and neither can we be given a running commentary of what goes on behind closed doors. This isn’t ‘rose tinted’ it’s just reality. I just wish the constant moaners who seem to enjoy slagging the club off more than they enjoy watching the football would just f**k off. We don’t need them and their negativity. OVERNIGHT? This has been ongoing for nearly 50 years irrespective of who the owner is. Has it really been 50 years? I thought we only moved to the Mem in 1996 and so it’s only 26 years or less as the Mem WAS the solution when we first moved back. Everything before that isn’t relevant as the Mem provided the solution. I don’t know for certain but I’d say it’s no more than 10 to 15 years we’ve been pursuing an alternative to the Mem? Yes we would like a new stadium as we’ve outgrown our current home and it’s no longer commercially viable but to say it’s 50 years is imo an exaggeration…

For what it is worth, I have spoken to TG about staying at the Mem and a new stadium. He said that the club had looked at staying at the Mem but the main issue is location and access to the site . The club have looked at using park and ride to ferry supporters in to reduce traffic congestion but haven't taken it any further . They are looking at other sites and of course the one we all know about is the Fruity Market. The thing is that what ever happens we arn't going to be in a new stadium in the next few years , so i think we should all concentrate on the football, if we get promoted then the club will have two years to either make the Mem seated/ safe standing or move into a new stadium fit for purpose , so the owners will be forced into doing something.

Thanks for that. I know it's counter intuitive, but maybe the recent reductions in capacity will also play a part in speeding up the search. After all, if we had a new (permanent?) South Stand and capacity remained over 12,000 then the pressure from fans, the media and possibly even finances to a lesser extent, would be much less.

Buy IKEA and surrounding Business Park, knock it down and take us back to our Spiritual home then, we've been gone 37 years.... Its time to go home. We have never had a Moses' and Biblically it took him 40years.
Now I really know how he **** felt!
😣😣😣😣😣🙄☹️🤫
I want to go home to Eastville 😢

It is the recent changes in capacity that have, to me, given a real urgency to the matter. A capacity of 12,500 compared to one of just 9,000 is very different. UTG!

With the long history of dissapointment as far as stadium projects has gone. All the artists impressions and optimistic fans that end up being dejected. It is quite possible Wael does not want us to go through it all again.
Keeping silent on stadia untill everything is in place.
One thing we have to accept is that we shouldnt moan about location. Where ever the stadium is situated we have to embrace it. Its likely to be our only chance for a new stadium to happen.

Am sure other schemes were discussed before going to Twerton. All hazy now but when were the schemes for nr Mangotsfield and Stoke Gifford announced? I recall Stoke Gifford had a separate athletic stadium.
