i wrote a letter to Tom regarding the state of the stadium. Briefly in my letter I suggested building fixed roofed pre-fab stands either side of the east stand and replacing the South and south west tents with a new fixed roofed stand . Having worked with the local planning dept in West Wiltshire I pointed out that from my experience to get a new stadium off the ground to completion it would take about 7 years, that is seven years of lost additional revenue. Tom replied, he says he agreed with everything I said and the club are looking to remove the tents in the summer and replace the South and South West stands with a new L shaped fixed roof stand, he didn't mention any improvements to the east side of the stadium. But was in agreement with what I said in my letter So it looks like we will be in the Mem for at least another 7 years as there was no mention of any immediate planning going in for a new stadium at the moment. But at least the club are doing everything they can to sort things.Tom did put something regarding this in his programme notes for the Tuesday night game. Good news if it happens !

I'll believe it when I'm still not going to games in it.

"But at least the club are doing everything they can to sort things"
Shouldn't that read "but at least the club are doing something they can to sort things"? As surely doing everything would be either completely redeveloping the Mem or agreeing a deal for a new stadium? Anything's better than doing nothing but it's looking likely there's no real plans for a new stadium anytime soon,if ever.

It sounds like redeveloping The Mem is now the only option and not a position I am against. I think redeveloping The Mem is a great option.

Not sure you'd class replacing the tents with a fixed roof temporary stands is actually redeveloping the Mem, although I doubt any of us know what options Wael is or isn't considering.

The club are still looking to develop a new stadium, but have realised that while at the Mem they need to carry out improvements to increase revenue, especially if we are going to be here for the foreseeable future .

Nothing more on our new South Tent either so perhaps the rumours of ground sharing with Mangotsfield have some credence after all. Tuesdays programme might be worth a browse. Anyone got a copy of the notes?

Tuesdays programme might be worth a browse. Anyone got a copy of the notes? There are confidentiality clauses involved with any new stadium talks, but Tom didn't deny that it could be another 7 years before we are in a new stadium . But the club see the long term future away from the Mem.

We are losing money by restricting away fans and juggling home seats. A L-shape stand could be the solution next season. Of course we need to maintain div one survival.

This is beginning sound like the the club may almost be ready to admit there's zero chance of the current owner organising a new stadium. It's like an addict finally admitting they've got a problem. We can hopefully now face up to it and move on.

Forget the longer term plans hinted at (notice the use of the word FRUITion!) I’m so excited for the drawings of the new S/SW stand!

I doubt he wrote anything that wasn't treble checked. 👍 If the idea is to be ready for the new season then that would be quick, wonder if we need permission? Irrc someone posted a while ago we could fit a 3,000 seat stand there. Relocate the scoreboard? Hope it's going to be good, I just remember those monstrosities previously installed on the East terrace.

Just worried the 30 designs sounds very similar to Wael's "a dozen(?) world class stadium designers working on plans" or words to that effect about the UWE.
