Waiting for a future game will help them involve the family and give them time to get it right. Better than rushing it over the two days they’ve had. UTG! Exactly. I’m sure the club will spend a bit of time setting up a special tribute for a great one club legend and one which his family are in agreement with.

Unfortunately I never saw Stuart play, having spoken to people who did he has seemed to fall foul of the curse of the defence minded player. We're quick to hear tales of Bradford, Biggs, Warboys and Bannister but rarely of Bamford, Pitt, Green and Taylor. The misty eyed remembrance of forward players will always be a thing. While folk reel off the list of wonderful strikers from the 1990's they often forget about the stalwart behind them in Andy Tillson. Is Stuart Taylor the most underrated player in the clubs history? Without seeing him, I couldn't tell you. Do the sheer number of games he played for the club and longevity deserve more adulation, respect and anecdotes? Absolutely. Rest in Peace, Stuart. Wonderful player, very Alan Hansen like. Because he was so tall the assumption was that hew as a bit of a clogger. Liverppol signed the clogger (Larry LLoyd) Stuart Taylor was the player.

A fitting tribute today by Tom Davies' performance to the legend that is Stuart Taylor. I loved seeing Stuart at the games just like a normal fan years after he retired. It's what makes the Gas a special club. Thanks for everything Stuart.

Agree Stuart was a great player but think your doing a disservice to the most successful player that has ever played for our club and yes I am not forgetting the likes of Gary Mabbutt and Nigel Martyn. Larry Lloyds record suggests to me he deserves more than "the clogger"accolade.

Larry LLoyd was a great fit for that Liverpool side of the time, he certainly wasn't a cultured player, but that doesn't mean he wasn't a good player, but you're right, clogger was a clumsy way of describing him.

Black armbands could have been worn. The family didn't want that.

These are the funeral details from Pam Taylor, which she is happy for us to share with all.
IN OUR HEARTS
FOREVER AND ALWAYS
STUART TAYLOR
With an aching heart I wanted to update you all on the details of my husband (my gentle giant) Stuart, who passed away peacefully in Southmead Hospital on Thursday 10th October.
Many thanks to all of you for the kind thoughts and messages that were all such a comfort to our family in his final illness.
If you would like to come along to join our family and friends in our celebration of Stuart’s life, his funeral will be held at 2pm on 29th October at Westerleigh Crematorium, everyone very welcome. Dress code smart, also Bristol Rovers shirts and kits optional.
Afterwards at The Memorial Stadium, Horfield, for strictly family, close friends, Bristol Rovers former players and Stuart’s fellow Masons.
Goodnight my darling, God bless you, you’ll be forever on my mind and always in my heart.
Your wife Pam

Many players are described as 'legends' by football supporters, but the truth is that only the very few are deserving of that accolade. One such player was Stuart Taylor, Rovers' record appearance holder with 546 League games to his name and 627 first class Gas games overall. Today Mr Taylor's family and friends, including the Bristol Rovers Former Players Association (BRFPA), will say a sad farewell to this gentle giant. Stuart, who was 72, passed away on 10th October 2019 after a long illness and will be laid to rest today.
