Have you looked at the detail Oldie re the house building? 75 billion they say they will spend, but it is still down to local councils to purchase the land. How will local councils get the money to purchase the land? Land is an interesting issue, given that private house builders purchase land and then "land bank" it to control supply and therefore prices. You can just see compulsory purchase coming into play. But in answer to your question I dont know that detail, it's the general thrust of a house building campaign that I support. In any event borrowing upto tens of £billions and building 1,700 homes doesnt cut it for me. But out of interest, who will / would you vote for? He votes Tory.

I totally agree with building more houses, either private, council, affordable, housing associations etc. I wouldn't vote for either Con/Lab/Lib. They have all proven to be totally useless. In the constituency where my house is there is not a party worth my vote. The only other two parties are the Green's (don't be silly) and the Movement Party, but why would I vote for a single issue party that concentrates on going to the loo?

I'd like to see the Tories destroyed. I'd also like to see Labour and the Lib Dems destroyed. All three have been a plague on this country for years. However, there isn't anything to replace them with. At some point people have to put a peg on their nose and decide to vote for one of these discredited parties.

Peg on my nose is putting my cross against the Lib Dem candidate in the full knowledge that they traded power for austerity in 2010. I live in the Forest of Dean Constituency (stop laughing at the back) where generally the Tories are considered communists and there is no need for a police force. But the Tories rule here as the least left wing. Strange given that Cinderford has the look of the third world about it.

I meant to ask, but this will concern you Oldie, have you looked at the Lib Dem proposal for taxing Air Travel? One or two flights a year and you may be ok, but more than that then be prepared to pay....a lot. For a transatlantic flight the tax you pay will be more than the cost of the flight !

I often wonder what people get out of stupid bollocks like that. Is there some sort of tax perk or other for people who run for office? If not why bother, you’re just making a twat of yourself. Maybe that’s the point :shrugs:

Hilarious Let’s be honest they don’t have any other policies other than “get brexit done”, their supporters are the most “hard of thinking” on the whole political spectrum so they don’t want to over-complicate things with trifling matters like the NHS.

But what do we do about pollution, we have to start somewhere.

The Dilke is being torn down and a brand new facility being built in Cinderford. There is also a 5 year old dedicated dialysis unit in Cinderford run by a German company under the oversight of Gloucester Royal.

You are aware that the Brexit Party are not even trying to form a government? They don't need a 'manifesto' or has that simple fact totally escaped you?

Between 10 and 15 seats they'd be ecstatic.

Perhaps the movement party could evolve into a professional outfit headed by Farage, there would be something poetic in that.

After watching this leaders debate I’m worn out with that Swinson woman, she doesn’t want Brexit so much she is trying to turn the public against Corbyn Didn’t realise her voting record on austerity during the coalition year’s was so poor either. Right now I wish the SNP were standing Uk wide as I’d vote for them in a heartbeat based on Sturgeon’s showing tonight.

I’m not bothering to tune in to any of the debates and I suspect at least 90% of the population will have long known which way they were going to vote so all seems a bit pointless to me. It’s almost like film auditions and about who comes across best on the camera - surely it should be a vote based on political philosophies and what you hope are genuine manifesto pledges not acting/presentation skills?

Why is Sturgeon even there? She is not an MP nor is she standing for election.

Fair point about voting based on presentation over substance but what she did well was convey the general principles the party stands for and they align with what I want to see from a Westminster government. It’s worth reiterating that they were denied the same democracy that the leavers complain about so she has every right to play the Farage role for Scotland. I would rather Scotland remain in the union but they were promised staying in the EU and they now find, like the leavers, that they were mis-lead so if leavers get their Brexit then the Scots absolutely should get another referendum. Is Scotland’s democracy any less valid than the leaver’s? I guarantee the English and Welsh brexiteers would steamroller over that question in the same way polls are showing no-one gives a sh** about Northern Ireland.
