Unsurprisingly, the unions don't think much of the Tory manifesto. Len McCluskey, general secretary of Unite, says the party are offering nothing for the country's "forgotten and left behind" towns and communities.
Describing it a "wafer thin offering", Manuel Cortes, leader of the Transport Salaried Staffs Association, says: "No serious party would come to the table with so little to say, and on Brexit, Johnson just sounds like a scratched record.
"He may not be aware but the Tories have been promising to get Brexit done for over three years. Saying it time and time again won't make it happen."
And Unison general secretary Dave Prentis says: "No-one should be fooled by the promises for the NHS and public sector. For the past nine years the Tories have slashed funding and let services slide.
"Now they are trumpeting a reversal of their own bungled policy of scrapping the nursing bursary - a problem of their own making."

No. I dont know why I bother to post in the hope that he will reconsider or something. Boris Johnson could be shagging his wife and he'd be making him dinner.

The union bosses are so hypocritical and undeserving of the media attention they get. Paint themselves as the men (or women) of the people spouting their communist nonsense. Only have to look at the actions of Bob Crow and Scargill and their social housing/council house activities whilst raking in huge salaries. I don’t begrudge anyone earning big salaries and they can vote how they wish - like most people they will generally vote for what is best for their own personal interests. I can’t stand the champagne socialist types telling everyone how to live their lives while doing the exact opposite themselves. Answering your question I’m not really any more interested in an old Etonians opinion than an old Hartcliffian. Newspapers are a mixed bag supporting the left and some the right. I’ve not heard any quotes from Russia so have no idea what their opinions are - just hear conspiracy theories from those on the left who seek to discredit the opposition and dig dirt rather than positively promoting their own case. Did Oldie go to Eton btw? Perhaps that’s what enabled him to have 25 rip roaring years in the city!

Hengrove Comprehensive, that after, rather mysteriously, passing the 11+ at Knowle Park Juniors. The like of Johnson read PPE at Oxbridge. I read FF&F.

Des anyone really care what these fat cat union boss leeches think? Just read the last paragraph Eric. An undeniable fact. Indeed Simon. It's like "Look, we f**ked it up royally, and an awful lot of you were stupid enough to vote for us again in 2015, and then even more bizarrely in 2017. But we promise not to do that again (honest), so please vote for us again. Please" "Oh, and by the way, we promise to get the country out of the EU, which will most likely f**k you up again" Vote Tory, the f**k it up party.

Lost cause. Complete lost cause. The only thing that will ever change minds is when it happens to them. If it ever does, I even doubt there would be a fleeting moment of reflection honestly.

A bit of light relief from the numbnuts. "There would be 50,000 new nurses, providing the 20,000 nurses he wouldn’t deport were included in the headline figure. There would be £2bn for potholes and £1bn for childcare. Because one child was worth half as much as one pothole. He’d do something about social care though the details temporarily escaped him. And he could promise all this was true because it had been ruthlessly audited by a bunch of twenty-somethings in CCHQ " The article had me in stitches Boris launches manifesto so devoid of substance, you can't tear it apart flip.it/bCByBN

"It came as new figures obtained through freedom of information requests showed that at least 3,250 NHS staff from the EU have left the health service so far this year, including 1,116 nurses."
This ring true Officer? If so, nobody get sick ffs.

Boris Johnson could be shagging his wife and he'd be making him dinner. That’s actually par for the course- I read an election thread on another forum and literally every other post is from a Tory saying “Boris isn’t a racist, but what about Labour and xyz” or “how many homes did Labour build in the last ten years?”. They’ve either got an excuse or some whataboutery to deflect the political and social mess the Uk has become on their watch. It’s like a cult and illustrates how hard it is for another form of politics to gain traction. There is nothing the Tories can do to lose because their supporters will come up with all sorts of mental gymnastics to convince themselves that it’s just fun and games.

Your post could just as easily say Corbyn isn’t anti Semitic but what about the conservatives and xyz If there is nothing the Tories can do to lose its because the opposition is so ridiculously poor and out of touch with reality that they are unelectable - especially Corbyn, the thought of whom as PM even scares the life out of life long labour supporters.

Say someone was able to buy their first home under the Conservative government, and that same person works a job that is supported by the Tories, and they also voted to leave the EU......would the anti-tories on here begrudge that person for voting conservatives next month?

I don't know about you Officer, but I remember the 1970's and the power wielded by the Unions then. I remember the Labour government having to go to the IMF for a bailout because they had bankrupt the country. I remember the IMF only giving that bailout on condition that savage cuts were made to public spending. Nowadays we'd call it 'austerity'. Every single Nationalised industry was a complete disaster. So yes, it has happened to me, I remember it very well. The problem is that young people have never experienced a Socialist government. They never believe you when you tell them how bad it actually was.

"NHS boss earning £300,000 a year claims back £149 parking ticket on expenses" Daily Mirror - So it must be true
