Might be wrong but don't the council own ply mouths ground or did they own home park Liverpool council are giving Everton an interest free loan for their new stadium.

Liverpudlians are proud of both teams.
I get the impression we're a bit of an embarrassment in hipster Bristol.
A bit more Tetley than Tahini.
I have no idea why Marvin should wish to help us, since Bristol seems to manage just fine with us shoved into obscurity.
Maybe he's a secret gashead who hates da sh1t?

An interest free loan to Everton from Liverpool City Council? That will not sit well with those Liverpool FC supporters who pay Council Tax.

Perhaps Bristol council can give us a interest free loan also Marvin up front till the end of the season? Doubt there'd be any interest in that.

Might be wrong but don't the council own ply mouths ground or did they own home park Argyle bought the ground from the City Council in 2006 but the Council bought it back in 2011 when the FC went into administration. In 2016 the club bought the ground back from the council’ again and plans were launched to redevelop the grandstand which is now almost complete funded by the chairman from his own money. Argyle are blessed with owners who have the wherewithal and desire to invest in building new infrastructure. Obviously so do City. We on the other hand have recently been blessed with Higgs, who didn’t have the wherewithal and Al Qadi who has neither!

Well that was an interesting listen and confirms if nothing else that ‘something ‘ is going on in trying to get us a new stadium. Some of the questions were interesting, particularly the one about whether Marvin thought it would be good for Rovers to have new owners. He replied that it was nothing to do with him of course but it seemed on the face of it a very strange question. It’s almost like the media know that he might be frustrated with the current owners for some reason isn’t it?

Whilst it is his own money (Hallet) I don’t believe it is a simple act of altruism, although he is clearly a fan. His bigger plan is to make the area around Home Park a leisure destination which would lend credibility to relocating the ice rink from the city centre/waterfront Pavilions site. The value to him of redeveloping both sites is probably greater than the loan he has just written off (converted into shares) and is what any successful businessman would do. He’s not that dissimilar to the AQs in that sense of viewing it as a business opportunity.

Marvin would be frustrated if he has facilitated the maximization of the land value at the Mem, expecting Rovers owners to jump at the chance of rolling over their capital into a new stadium, and then finds they turn down this chance to make the club flourish. It may be that Dwane Sports want to have their high density housing approval cake, to eat it, and then expect the Council to provide Rovers with a new stadium so that Wael can continue his charade.

It may be that Dwane Sports want to have their high density housing approval cake, to eat it, and then expect the Council to provide Rovers with a new stadium so that Wael can continue his charade. Once the Mem is sold and the owners have their debt safely covered, I wouldn't expect to see any more investment from them, least of all a new stadium. I don't think any of us expect that any longer. So, assuming the Council are not going to build and fund a stadium for us, which I think is a safe assumption, then there must be outside investors involved. Very very quiet outside investors, but investors nonetheless. Unless it's all nonsense and it'll never happen.

People slate BCC for us not having a new ground but they have approved everything we have given them. Do we expect BCC to pay for all or part of a stadium in a 2 team City?
Lack of fund's is the reason nothings gets built. As the teds (rightly) say, we expect a new ground but want someone else to pay for it.
Not surprising really considering the training ground fiasco. Manchester City Council funded the majority of the City Of Manchester Stadium(Etihad). A 2 team City. It has been done.
