Lines wasn’t really getting into the team though and weren’t Port Vale relegated that season? A bit different as loan player drop leagues literally all the time. The only similar thing I can think of is when Wilder left play off chasing Oxford for Northampton who were in relegation in L2 (our relegation season). I think that was also due to board problems at Oxford at the time Dunno. If he’s had enough of us or wants to leave to spend time with his family then I’d be gutted. But I respect his decision and thank him for keeping us up last season and getting us to where we are. He’s Achieved more than most Rovers managers in a year. His record is brilliant and if he does stay I think we’dm make the play offs or at least come close which is more than the “ legend “ Holloway did for us and he had much better players. Be careful what you wish for.

The thing I don’t get is that Coughlan has spent a year with us, 8 years at Southend and 2 years at Shrewsbury, all in the south. He hasn’t had a job in the north since 2008, so if this is geographical, why now when he is at the height of his managerial powers? If it was a simple as him wanting to be closer to his family, why didn’t he come out and say that in his interview instead of venting his frustration at the direction the club was moving in? Don't forget Plymouth!!! Few miles from Sheffield. City fans saying it's our owners inability to spend money. They aren't wrong, the owners are totally to blame.

This could only happen to us, we beat Ipswich for the first time since 1958 away from home, go fourth in league one, and our manager decides to consider a move to a team at the bottom of the league below us.What makes it really odd is that he spent years at Plymouth which is another 100 plus miles further from Sheffield. Got to be more than just distance from home. Maybe there’s been a bust up at home , perhaps he has been given an ultimatum by mrs Coughlan , Graham is in a flat in Bristol city centre most of the week 🤫🤫🤔🤔— who knows Utg

Not read every tread on this incredible news. Just when we thought we were going in the right direction a bolt out of the blue? I guess almost every Gashead must be hating COughlan by now. I guess he will be gone by Monday morning and the search for a new manager will begin. But who is available? Who wants to come to a club with no leadership at the top? At 5pm we were all singing Graham Coughlan praises, now we just want to see the back of him. I might sound harsh, but this is how i feel right now, Hate? Really?

at he final whistle he was standing in front of the away fans, thumping his chest and punching the air. We're on the train and just pulling out of Ipswich station and it's on the web that's he's said he's thinking of leaving during the after-match interview. Seems pretty strange to me. One assumes he still lived in Sheffield all those years he was at Southend, which is a lot further fron Sheffield than Bristol, and he's been with us for a couple of years and it didn't appear to be a problem. If it's a lack of resources that's the problem then we must be really in trouble if a poxy L2 side in a shithole like Mansfield is a more attractive proposition. Very, very strange. More guess work. We have to wait and see I suppose .

If GC goes due to the board not backing him I won’t attend another match for the foreseeable future, I hope other ST holders feel the same. The man has performed wonders for our club!

Very, very strange. this with bells on. Mansfield have their own state of the art training facilities and a Chairman prepared to put his money where his mouth is. Throw in the fact it’s an hour from Sheffield and hey presto, game over. It’s a sad indictment of where we are(n’t). I recall on here earlier threads such as GC out, GC is a liar, GC replacements and even GC’s daughter. And that’s this season. We only have ourselves to blame.

Not mathematically certain yet lol Hahahaha. Tbf, on that note, it would represent a good opportunity to give the reigns to a potential gem rather than a tried-and-tested. But our board will pick the cheapest option anyway!

I'll make a prediction. We'll have 2 months of 'The owners have ripped the soul out of this club because they won't spend any money'. We'll then follow that with 2 months of 'The owners have ripped the soul out of this club because they're lumbering the club with another £3M of debt"

Hoping GC stays whatever people are now writing ....... he said he's going to think over his situation tonight and probably everything will be a lot clearer/ decided by Monday. UTG ! Probably a bit late for that, hes painted himself into a corner and more or less made his position untenable hasnt he? Agree it would be hard for him to stay now as he's made it clear he does not think he can do any more at the club. Sorry to see him go but I think it would be hard to stay now. This is the trouble with post match interviews, people are emotional and say too much. Still nothing last forever...

Whatever happens I will always respect GC for the fantastic job he has done in clearing up the mess left by DC. Why on earth would you hate someone who saved the Gas from relegation and has got us the 4th in the table by some kind of miracle? A truly excellent manager.

I have no idea of the managers personal circumstances and if that is the reason for a possible departure, if it is an internal issue with regard to the way the club is run then I hope the owners sort it out quickly. 1) Reward him for the fantastic work he has done by making him a really good offer. 2) Give him a budget the club can progress with Finally if he is still with us for the next home game, I hope the crowd to a man rise to their feet and give him a standing ovation.

Strangely I was thinking last week when people were describing his style of football as dull unattractive turgid even. I thought whatever we think of the football served up other clubs will only notice Coughlan has taken us from near relegation to a near promotion in a year and other clubs would be interested. At that time I was thinking of bigger clubs even championship, but fking Mansfield what is he thinking surely he can do better than that.

Much like every other Gashead this evening, I was left speechless and bemused by this news surfacing only minutes after a truly exceptional away victory.
The entire thing is even more bizarre, given GC’s reaction to the away end post match. He was pumped up to say the least.
