The first half set the tone - players seemed scared to play anything other than the easy pass, looked to me terrified to lose possession and looked like they wanted to be seen as decent footballers. They seemed reluctant to hoof it up which has been our successful tactic up until now. The penalty before half time was the worst thing as it led us to believe we were doing ok when actually we were anything but ok. The tempo was slow and we never really got going until the second half when we found a gear - Reverse! Absolutely woeful performance from start to finish. I've never seen us have such a false position in the league! How the f**k we were 2nd at HT. Silver lining is that the club can now act in january to bring about these much needed changes. BG is right we need pace and athleticism as we are awful to watch in my opinion. Let's hope the second half of the season is more than an experiment for the new gaffer. Such a shame that we cannot try and capitalise on our fortunately high league position. Frustrating but it's been coming all season.

Sh*t performance or not. Let's be honest if anybody had said in August that this squad would be 6th in League 1 after 21 games on Boxing day and just 2 points of an automatic place, most of us would have laughed our tits off. A bit of perspective is needed, I feel. A meltdown is certainly way over the top. Poor way to look at it IMO. Yes I didn’t expect us to be here but now we are we have to compete to be here. If we finish mid table or lower now I’ll be disappointed, whereas at the start of the season I would have been pleased. It’s the standard we have set for ourselves.

I guess Garner will be looking for additions (not sure where money will come from). With Hare out for season and Little rarely fit I guess a right back is needed. If he plans to continue with three at the back then I guess a loan signing will be needed to provide cover for back three. He must look for a striker who can score at least 6 or 7 in the second half of season and a second striker if JCH is sold. Depending on formation he plan the there will be need for a creative central midfielder of left sided midfielder. The owners of the football club who are reportedly worth £400 million? Be nice if they could back the new manager with a few signings. As for the game, it was very flat and disappointing. For all our possession in the first half I was never confident and didn't think we particularly threatened in the final third enough, although the disallowed goal should have stood. Second half we never got going and looked very sluggish. Think it was a mistake taking JCH off so early, even though I don't think he was playing all that well. The thing with him is he's a presence and occupies defenders minds and always a chance he could get a goal out of nothing, which is more than can be said of the other strikers. Not a good day, but important to put it behind us and bounce back with a performance at Fleetwood, which will be very tough. They have got some quality players for this level , some game changers and ones that can dictate the tempo. Owning a bank worth £400 million isn't the same as being worth that amount, maybe they should sell up and do the decent thing.

How can you be in a false position having played half the teams in the league? Have we fluked 20 odd games or something? I’ve been one of the biggest critics of the style but even I have had to accept that the turgid sh** we’ve served up has been effective and as such we should not be tampering with it. We tampered with it today and we lost our first game in 11 so who is actually in a false position? Turgid football that got us to 4th or the tippy tappy low tempo stuff we served up in the first half and lead to defeat?

Only one person to blame, that twat Coughlan. Left us properly in the lurch at a busy and critical part of the season instead of seeing the campaign through. A change of manager (and coaching staff) is bound to affect players one way or another Or maybe he got this team playing well above the level they’re realistically capable of and then went home to his family and left us to find our level.? We’ll see. Of course he did, but leaving a job half done is pretty pointless

Surely the new manager hasn’t gone in and said ‘stop all that hurly burly stuff that’s been so successful and start playing lovely little triangles with passes no longer than 15 yards’
Just an off day
The players will know they performed badly
3 points at Fleetwood and the promotion bus will be in gear again!

I think Wimbledon are the first team we've played twice. "Tippy tappy" football is fine and the way to go IMO, but we need more pace and a creative midfielder in the side to make it work. We are in no way good enough on or off the pitch to go up, so if the rest of this season is a bit of an experiment that leaves us better off in the long term, that's fine by me. I want to watch a team that wins, as we all do, but I want to be entertained too.

Team played well for first 25 minutes, perfectly good goal disallowed then don't know what really happened, it was like they all ran out of ideas after that. Felt like JCHs last game for me, final farewell coming off after 65 minutes. I wont sit here being too critical, it's amazing we are even anywhere near the playoffs, but it is a shame to lose as we could have been sat 2nd in the league tonight. You say that but a lot of clubs will lose interest given his recent injuries

I'd rather winning football, but we need more goals, say what you like about Nichols but he shouldn't be playing up front in a league one team. the sooner he is replaced the better

As far as entertainment I thought the game v Posh was a decent game, god knows what we were doing today.

First chance I've had to catch up on match day thread and no surprise some massive over reaction to our first defeat in 12 games, honestly you'd think we'd only won 1 in 12. We completely controlled the first half but didn't create enough which is a recurring theme over the season so far but even so but for a poor refereeing decision would have been 2 up & most probably out of sight. 2nd half we were poor, stopped doing the basic things well & invited them to attack. I don't see that we did anything different to previous home games we simply played poorly for 45 mins, exactly as we have done in other games, that doesn't mean we don't deserve to be where we are nor does it mean the new boss has changed the way we play. I certainly didn't expect us to be in a play off place on Boxing Day so am going to continue to enjoy the ride.

Sadly a lose lose situation for the new gaffer. Hope players stand up and be counted and follow model pros such as big Tone during this difficult period.

I agree that this squad needs improvement before it can play that type of football, hence the comment about pace and a creative midfielder. With that, another striker and defensive cover, we can play good, winning football on the floor. That will take time though and to change it too quickly (like Dobson tried to) would be a mistake. I do hope though that Garner is given the patience and time to realise his vision because in the long run, if he gets it right, we will have a much better side to be proud of. I think Coughlan, who did do well for us, was right when he said HE couldn't take us any further...his style of football probably wouldn't get us out of this league and certainly wouldn't stand a chance in the league above. Passing football, with the right backing, just might. But we have to be patient.

Can't find it in me to watch BG's post match interview- is it wrong that his face and way annoy me already? Take it back to school as such and he reminds me of one of those annoying keener types that use ten words rather than 1 and are away with the fairies!
