If Anssi's injury is a dislocated shoulder as BG suggests that could be a 12 week plus recovery period even assuming no ligament damage. Wish him a speedy recovery and hope it's not too long before he's back. Might need to look for a loan signing?

Shame. Top keeper and JVS does not fill me with confidence whatsoever.
I personally would bring in another keeper on loan but probably would out a dent into our already tight budget for January.
My worry is BG was mentioning the players MK Dons could bring off the bench and wants a bigger squad. Just makes me think he thinks he will get a bigger budget than he will actually get.

BristolPost suggests an average of 4-6 weeks out with a dislocated shoulder, more if surgery is required. Opportunity for JVS to step up and get some more game time? With Andre Alexis Jnr on the bench? Or do we sign another keeper on loan? Really bad news for us and Jaakkola… he's been playing out of his skin and the Euros are this summer..!

What's frustrating is that if the injury is as bad as being reported not only do we lost one of our best performing players and a fantastic goalkeeper but we will also lose some of the budget that could of gone towards other players if we recruit a loan to replace him.
I hope Ansii makes a swift recovery and comes back in time to have an impact on the second half of the season. One of the best keepers in the division IMO.

Bring in an "emergency" loan keeper seems the obvious solution, one who can takeover from Anssi as like GGMI I've zero confidence in JVS, although I guess he'll never improve if he never plays.

Bad news for Jacko and the club, JVS to me is a rabbit in headlights, would imagine BG will look to bring in a first team loan to cover while Jacko is under going convalescence.

I do think some of the criticism of Van Stappershoef is perhaps a little harsh. He's not on Jaakkola's level for sure but he's deputised well for him in the past and I don't think he's as bad as he's made out to be.
We've had much worse keepers play for us in the not too distant past.

Stappershoef looks awkward to me in his dives though , even when he makes a simple save he doesn’t look comfortable doing it in his movement and from what I’ve seen of him I’m far from convinced he’s a league 1 standard keeper. Is the transfer window open yet ? Garner has just said amongst other things that there will be talks with the board tomorrow, they all need to pull their fingers out and quickly whether he’s looking for a keeper or not, the window is only open for a month and if we Dick about until the end of the window and end up feeding off of scraps we won’t be getting the top technically gifted league 1 players that Garners going to need.

And Andre is a bigger rabbit in even bigger headlights. In the spirit of “We should go for Pulis or Warnock” as Manager I think we should go for Joe Hart on an emergency loan. If he’s got any ambition he’ll want to come here to the mighty Bristol Rovers and get first team football. If he doesn’t want to come then he can just f**k off, clearly just a mercenary and we could do better anyway.

What did JVS do wrong today? As far as I could tell he did OK when called into play after a very short space of time, and I don't think he was at fault for any of their goals. It was noticeable how their defence were able to pass the ball around in defence, to and from their keeper while we just stood back and let them do it. Their attack didn't give our defence a minutes peace, and were pressing around our penalty area the whole game. we really need to stop surrendering the middle of the pitch.,we invited relentless pressure all game and today our luck ran out, costing us 3 goals.

Definitely need to bring in a keeper. I'd target either Marek Stech (Luton) or David Stockdale (Birmingham).

JVS did one very good save in the second half. Give him a run of games he can only improve

Didn’t we loan Alexis to Salisbury a few weeks ago? Is he back yet to act as cover on Sunday?
