Then we’ll respectfully have to disagree then. For me, the shape was different and true we tried to do some new tricks but a lot of what we did ended up reminded me of how it was under Coughlan. Garner will need some time to perfect the style of football he wants us to play and I’m fairly certain the board will give him the summer to do that regardless of how well we perform between now and then. I think we can probably agree that the rest of this season is going to drag like f**k 🙄 Hopefully it will all come good in the end , I’m a patient person and I’m going to keep turning up and supporting our club but I’m worried Starnes theory of getting a new kind of manager in who will bring back the crowds has back fired and he and the rest of the powers that be won’t have the patience. We’ll see. Conversely I’m worried they will have the patience. It was a long term appointment from the off- it was fairly obvious that BG wasn’t going to be winning game from the off. First job at the helm with no mentor. A total gamble with our league position the board were happy to take. As a result I don’t see why they would act if we look like we are struggling in March. Garner’s profile is much better suited to a close season appointment rather than a mid-season firefighter or the managerial equivalent of a ‘short sharp shock’ to get things back on track. I just hope the club doesn’t pay the ultimate price for this badly timed (imo) wholly speculative appointment.

Big night this Tuesday at Bolton for the young manager, it should be his first win, but what I saw today is caution first, this is when experience comes into play. Will he release the team to go and get the result that is expected. I thought he fielded a fairly attacking side today if that’s what you mean by release the team but the problem regarding getting those players to play a more flair attractive style of play is our midfield stood on the toes of our defenders when we didn’t have the ball and were so slow to get out and look for the ball when we won possession that we don’t attack with any flair or pace or hunger. Most the time when we win the ball in our final third our team just jog up the pitch often not even looking to receive the ball, , we’ve lost all our tempo, the players are still grafting when we haven’t got it but they don’t look hungry when we do have it. Put those two things together and you’ve got a 0-0.

If we go down, there will be riots. If Waels family want to sell the club then it is in their best interests that the club stays in league 1. Selling us in league 1 got to be a lot easier than selling us in league 2.
I haven't been able to make the last couple home games, the football has been boring from the off and now there are bad results to go with it. I cant get excited about the next game, not even sure who we are playing.
My hope for the rest of the season is that w pick up a few wins and stay up...
If there are people waiting to buy the club o hope they do come forward to remove the negativity that is consuming the club. The ALQs give me no hope things will ever progress off the pitch, we NEED change.

I thought we looked a bit better in the first half but failed off and resorted to hoofball in the second half.
Probably lucky to get a point in the end, but I thought it was a little easier on the eye in the first 45 at least.

There were definite signs of the way Garner wants us to play but again the issue is creating chances, the penalty apart we created nothing. Personally I think he'll get there but its going to take time. The negativity around the club can't be helping even Davies mentioned it in his post match interview. We aren't going down so effectively he has 20 more games to assess who can play the way he wants to before next season.

All White On The Night! A quarter of an hour or so into the game I noticed something unusual in this day and age: Fleetwood had no black players on the pitch. This continued when they made substitutes. A look at their site shows much the same......................

I can't see any of our CM's are capable of playing a passing game, nor will Wael given Garner the budget to get such players in. Such a team would have to be: Hare Davies New CB THD (if he can stay fit) Ogogo New ACM Clarke New No 10 JCH Ginnelly Best passer on the pitch was 36-year-old Glen Whelan and closely followed by Dempsey. Always seemed to have time and space on the ball and our midfield couldn't get near them at times. ..and the comments on the Ledley thread suggest that if we had thought about Glenn Whelan everyone would have said 'too old/slow' etc. I still wonder if Ledley could do a job, esp if Sercs is out for any length of time.

Often he was level with his centre back demanding the ball to be passed a yard so he could spread it wide. I'm not a fan of deep lying player coming into touching distance of a CB to grab the ball. On the one hand he was at least hungry for the ball on the other- you're taking a man out of midfield for not much reason. By contrast upson for me had one of his poorest games yesterday. He wasnt hungry for the ball. There was a moment where the CBs split at a goal kick and a mountain of space opened for Ed in the middle and he did the classic- look like it's a bad idea.

Our team got unbelievably high in the Division and is now slipping down the he table. But riots? Cmon! we won't go down and the task for Garner is buildings nag a squad that can make a sustained challenge next season.

But people would be very unhappy if we were to be relegated, we are moaning now about how much of shambles the club is. So you think Garner was hired whilst we were 4th in the league and told to not worry about this season and build for the next???
