Well go on then, what did he say?  You say he's a joke. So, outline what he said, and inform us all of how you would go about things. Obviously you have a much better understanding of how to deal with a pandemic.

You can shoot the messenger etc

1. In February he called the impending pandemic a "Democratic Party Hoax"
And took no action
2. Later he said it's like flu and citizens should carry on as normal and go to work
Against the advice if his own medical establishment
3. Early March he said everyone who wanted a test could get one
He lied, they don't have enough test kits, and he took no action.

Last night he invoked xenophobic remarks, incredulously labeling Covid19 a "foreign virus" as if it has a nationality,the thick f**let.
He then banned inbound flights from mainland Europe, but not the UK just at the point where infection is doubling every four days,in the UK. Leaving aside the fact it's far to late for that particular blunt instrument it's incoherent.
He did nothing to address the issue of sick pay in the States (millions have no cover), a muddled response on co-payments for testing (when they finally build capacity).

Oh, and in his farcical address he said the ban from Europe included freight (they scrambled to undo that afterwards).

It beggars belief that anyone, anywhere, could actually support him.

I was disappointed in the response today. I expected the strategy around testing, self isolation and home management. I was hoping for at least some degree of social distancing.

I dont believe further delay to social distancing measures is the best way to 'flatten the curve'. In contrast it guarantees a large degree of spread.

I understand that if they believe there is a limit on peoples compliance with such methods that it's better to do it when more people have it than less as it will be more effective in its prevention volume in cases, over the same time period with an earlier implementation and smaller reach. What I do not agree with though is the assumption that people will be non compliant. For now, they are not doing anything to reduce spread at all. We know that you are being told to isolate when symptoms develop but that community transmission is happening before symptoms develop. We also now know that this is the most infectious point in the progression.

I'm afraid its increasingly likely we are all going to get this. The key I suppose it to get it now or get it much later, either side of the peak while there are health services than can cope if complications did occur.

Regardless of today's decision and the strategy moving forward now this is very much in the community, the wash up from this will show too little was done too late when this began. Not just here but elsewhere in Europe. The response from the east has been significantly more robust and timely and will prove in time to have been the most successful I think.
