Here's a good one. I'm in the local and I've just been told that if I want to smoke, then I've got to be sat down. It's a ban on "vertical smoking". So, mask on to come in, sit down, mask off. Want to smoke? Mask on, go outside, sit down, mask off, smoke. Mask on to come back inside. Repeat. Same at mine.

Whats the rationale for smoking sat down? No idea. There was a palpable sense of ridicule amongst the locals. One bloke brought his young son in to play snooker (it's more of a village social club than a pub) and seemed quite surprised when asked about his mask. He didn't have one.

Priority list (provisional):
Draft list reveals plan for who to prioritise for vaccine
This just in from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation.
They've recommended a "simple age-based programme" for deciding who should get an eventual coronavirus vaccine first.
This approach "will likely result in faster delivery and better uptake in those at the highest risk", they say.
And they add: "Whether health and social care workers should be prioritised above, alongside, or below, persons at highest risk from COVID-19 would depend on the characteristics of the vaccines when they become available and the epidemiology of disease at the time of delivery."
Here's their provisional priority list:
Older adults’ resident in a care home and care home workers All those 80 years of age and over and health and social care workers All those 75 years of age and over All those 70 years of age and over All those 65 years of age and over High-risk adults under 65 years of age Moderate-risk adults under 65 years of age All those 60 years of age and over All those 55 years of age and over All those 50 years of age and over Rest of the population (priority to be determined)

Not great with technology so hope this link works? After the recent discussions on here about the merits of continuous lockdowns I found this piece and the comments from the various scientists quite interesting. www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54228649

Whilst it is always good to have a healthy debate, the thing for me is that if even the scientific community can’t agree on anything us mere mortals have no chance of working out a way ahead. I’ve never understood how, if the virus is (allegedly) the same for all of us there are ( in UK anyway) potentially 4 different ways on so say controlling it. For example - No household visits in Scotland but you can in England. How does that work then? Can’t help but think there is a degree of “politicking” and point scoring going on.

I think that is definitely the case where the devolved nations are concerned. Always have to be seen to do something slightly different or in their view slightly better, clearly no reason other than trying to promote themselves and their parties.
