Forget herd immunity, it's really population immunity. Gives an extra angle on why students are being packed in to halls together then. The older staff who interact with them daily will be collateral damage.

Forget herd immunity, it's really population immunity. I think he’s spot on. I also liked his comment about those trying to stifle debate on this subject, it’s an unfortunate modern response in debate used to shut down opposition opinions with posturing from a moral high ground. Happens on these general threads quite a bit which puts people off joining in.

I think there is an exemption which could apply to the Royal Palaces and Parliamentary buildings. Although they are officially closing that off the reality is their bars have been shut since March so not really a story other than to create false headlines and spark outrage.

Usual gov U-turn then, they will no longer serve alcohol after 9.30/10 o'clock.

To bring it back on track from the Brexit thread, did anyone download the track and trace app yet?

Is it any good? My phone needs to update in order to download it. Something I don’t want to do as iPhone updates always ruin the battery

Something I don’t want to do as iPhone updates always ruin the battery Looks OK - simple to use - asks for your area code (BS32 in my case) to enable the download - BS32 classed as a medium risk area which I think is the minimum default setting for any area. Haven't had to use it yet.

Odd press conference today.
All numbers heading in the wrong direction and we sre being asked to limit social contacts but no change in the government regulations. So why is that? Because its essential to do to reduce spread but if applied to all would cause further economic upset?
I think Vallance was as clear as you can get. We provide the science, politicians have to make the decisions. Looks bleak to me.

I wonder what percentage of the 200+ students partying and ignoring all social distancing protocols In Coventry are also regular bleaters on social media about how the government is not looking after the welfare of uni students?
