Arrived back in the UK yesterday via Heathrow. No asking of passenger locator form, negative Covid test, vaccination status or the pre-booked Covid tests once back... They were more bothered about my partners immigration status as she is from the EU and said she lives here. They even took her passport away and 'went to check' in the back. This is despite having pre-settled status. Welcome to Brexit Britain everyone 👏 Sickening.

Regarding the PLF, I think it gets linked to your passport number so they can see the information when they scan it. They didn't ask to see mine a few weeks ago. They didn't check my Covid test too which I was surprised by. However, it was checked a number of times before the flight back to the UK. All they wanted to see was the quarantine testing kit invoice.

Generally it was pretty smooth except for my partners entry, but worrying the checks aren’t completed.

I came from green but that shouldn’t make a difference I was coming from an amber country (Greece). I remember the guy read out the address we had chosen to quarantine at, so he must have seen the PLF info from scanning our passports. As we did quarantine in Wales we were not allowed to use private testing companies, only the government one which set us back nearly £700 for the four of us! They didn't even give us our day 2 test result until the 5th night and the day 8 result came on day 11! Lets just say we were long gone before the quarantine period was up! Over £15 million per week is currently being spent by passengers on mandatory arrival tests!

Was speaking to a colleague today and she said the people calling everyday were basically sales people trying to convince her to take the day 5 release, every day someone new would ring trying to get a sale. The governments recommended vendors is a joke as well, they have hundreds on there for £20, only when you get to the website - that’s a complete lie, not a single thing is £20. And to think, they’re actively advertising and recommending these companies! One of them I looked at was by post and was £30, thought ok - only for Manchester only. London? £110. What, was someone driving the test up to Manchester by limo?

We’ve spent £450 ish as a family for the various tests we’ve been told we’d need. I said to my wife “ this will be a total waste of money and I bet they don’t check anything “. So far , the first test at £65 for teenage daughter’s test was not looked at so unnecessary and a waste of money . 7 more tests to go ……

All seems so confusing, difficult and bloody expensive. I so want to go back and see my parents who are both in their 80s. Anyway Yatton how was your trip through France? Did you get held up with the parisians all heading south? Have a good holiday!

Cheers my friend ! 😃 The journey down was ok , slight f… up as we put our overnight stay into the satnav ( Orleans) thinking it would take us via Rouen . Wrong ! Went via Paris , wasn’t too bad though . Enjoyed the drive down south from there , getting on the A71/5 and the satnav saying stick on this road for 283 miles . Weather is great 28 degrees, will try and have a proper look around locally tomorrow. Managed to do a supermarket visit and get the essentials, beer , wine & whiskey . Just gotta get food tomorrow to feed the kids and we’re sorted .

You think that's bad, my father in law forgot to disable the 'avoid toll roads' on his satnav, ended up going through towns and villages with no motorway. The journey from Paris to Calais took twice as long and nearly missed the ferry. 😃 Have a great time.

What, was someone driving the test up to Manchester by limo? I suppose we were quite fortunate that by doing quarantine in Wales we didn't receive one phone call! Friends doing their quarantine in London at the same time had a call every day, but like you said it was just someone reading of the same script. Most of the calls came in the morning so once the day 2 test result had come back, they just waited for the call and then went out for the test of the day! A lot of the day 5 test to release result's don't even come back until the 8th/9th day so its a bit of a waste of time anyway. I flew back to Qatar last week and I managed to find a postal test of £45 which I put into one of their drop boxes and got the result back the following afternoon. However, I since seen photo's of some of their drop boxes around the country completely overflowing so I am not sure how much I would recommend them now?!

Yeah I used Biograd Diagnostics for £50 for the Day 2 testing. Thankfully it’s all via post office so just took it there. On the results, can’t say I’m even bothered when they come through tbh. When you don’t have urgency and I’m not quarantining, no point worrying anymore

I've decided my Holiday in September is under Diplomatic travel, so I'm not bothering with all that track trace testing crap, I'll just go where I want when I want.

I needed it for travelling though and had to do a test 72 hours before arriving at my destination which only really left me with 48 hours to do the test, send it off and get a result. I've heard lots of stories of people not getting their results back in time before flying.

That was a UK in clinic test as well, had a few additional grey hairs that night for sure
